Went out with friends last night and got wasted on ginger and honey highballs, beer and so forth whilst eating piles of karaage- fried chicken. You order it in 100g increments and we went for a combo of breast and thigh. I preferred the latter but the Japanese at our table liked the "tenderloin". Ordered dipping combos with it, we had yuzu and a spicy sesame sauce. Real good but utterly stuffed. Sushi today I reckon
In addition when you ordered a highball you rolled 2 dice for it. An odd number meant you got a giant highball, an even meant you got a half price one, and if you got two of the same number you got a free one and they rang a little bell. Surprisingly the 7 of us got a fair few free ones.
Lunch today was at a sushi place in shibuya where you order via touch screen. The food then comes rushing over on a little conveyor belt robot. Utterly dirt cheap and better than probably any sushi in the UK. The selling point is it's all made to order and because there's no waiting staff they keep prices down.
Here is some salmon done in chilli
Some specialty fish with "extravagant topping"
And then I ordered this bastard because it was on their summer special menu
If I had to guess the pink/red side was tuna with very spicy roe and the white side was mackerel pate. Both were great tho, and the fried onions on top did the job.
Add in a non pictured plate of flounder, miso soup and a grapefruit highball and the bill was £9. Good stuff.
Looks good Reg, proper jealous of all the food and Splatoon 2 hype you're experiencing.
Had some big bowl of pho myself, with extra vegetables. $10 +$3 I think, not too bad, beef was nice and vegetables were actual vegetables and not a sad piece of tomato and cucumber some places try to get away with.
Was a good square for Asian food, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean. The whole place was packed with Asians too, so hopefully that says something on the quality of food served.
Big dirty gyozas for dinner in Shimokitazawa. It's happy hour so we got the plate of 12 and two beers for 500¥ - £3. The veg were another pound. Yaaasss.
