Someone on my Facebook linked to an article on the movie. Link below. It’s long and I’ve only read about a quarter so far, but seems good.

He was great in UG. Did have to have subtitles on though, which I don't mind in all fairness.

I didn't expect to love it but I did expect more surprise as the only thing I'd read was not to read anything about it. Gentle amusement's about right but I'm still glad I saw it on the big screen because the man can point a camera good.

A good 'un. Nice period piece look to it. Great vintage soundtrack too.
I hadn't realised that Zodiac mystery wasn't as mysterious as I thought.
Excellent cast throughout. Jake Gyllenhaal is great in the lead.Downey Jr does his thing.

The way it's been filmed is really cool and lends a lot to the atmosphere, Pattinson and Defoe are both ridiculously good, Defoe completely steals the show though in several scenes and puts in a performance that's so intense at some points its like hes come straight through the screen and he's addressing you directly.
My only criticism is that although the descent into insanity was really well done, the seeds of doubt that occasionally punctuate the madness are sometimes a little ineffective or do nothing to change your opinion on what's happening that much. It's a super minor gripe though, and those moments give the audience a much needed break at times.
If you can sit through a super old fashioned format black and white picture for 2 hours and you like watching some good ass acting and some mild ratcheting up of tension and some sea shanty weirdness then this is the film for you.
Also, even though its just under 2 hours, I swear I watched a 3 hour film, it doesn't drag, it's just packed with scene after scene after scene without ever feeling rushed.
How this got a 15 I will never know, some of the stuff that happens is pretty explicit in this film.
