I love stuff like that. Retro's retro evenings even have the three ratings /10 converted into an optional Mean Machines style percentage. I want graphs, but he's lazy.

Good stuff. Closest film to a [10] fro me is probably Jaws, but it's still a [9]. You won't see any willy-nilly 10s from me.

Send messageI got around to watching Citizen Ruth tonight and liked it quite a lot in the end, although it took a good 10-15 minutes for me to get into it and a little longer for it to actually feel like an Alexander Payne film, but I think that I would now put it in an approximate joint 3rd place (after Sideways and Nebraska, and tying with About Schmidt) and award it an 8/10 – thoughtful but very funny. -
Finally got round to watching this. I'd never heard of it before it was mentioned on here. Was consistently amusing, but as jdanielp mentions above, there's more to it than laughs. Tagline should be 'a despicable cunt finds herself in a despicable tug-of-war'. Boddicker stole the show for me, but it's really good turn from Dern as the wholly believable self-serving huffer. Took me a while to place the red-headed teenager, thought she was the one from Six Feet Under, but a quick look at imdb revealed that she was Cybil's daughter, so that clears that up.
I also preferred it to About Schmidt, but it's been a while since I saw Election and I can't remember much past the fact that I liked it. Leave the credits running for some extra audio, btw. Was a good film to start with, I'll give it an [8] for the spreadsheet. -

I used to score films then looked back at what I'd dished out and there was no consistency. Films that I enjoyed could score below films I hated as long as they were a few months apart.

Just finished watching it. Failed to grip me. I appreciate the satire and what they were trying to do, but I just didn't enjoy it.

I always think the best way to rate one film is in relation to others. My brother's big on rating films and making lists and whatnot. He's gone back a re-rated every film he's ever seen until every category (5 star, 4.5 star, etc) has an even number of films in.

I rate films and games out of 10, but albums out of 5. I can't think of a film I'd give top marks to, but I'm more lenient with games (can probably think of 8ish 10's). I give loads of albums 5. I should probably be single, especially as around 13years ago I got brutally stoned and talked my girlfiend through my games collection based on what Edge gave them and what I'd rate them if I worked for Edge. She knows a keeper when she sees one...

I don't think I've ever done a rating system. I just know if I like something or not, seems a bit odd to give everything a score. Do you all do the same for everything else in life?
