Personally unwanted to cut back on alcohol.
My tolerance is way too high so coming off it for a bit is a good way of resetting.
Tying it in with Dryathlon means there is a proper reason to not slip up, a safety net for when will power is failing.
If it earns money for a charity too then it is only good.
staying 'dry' normally shouldn't be too much issue for me as i don't drink that much anyway (though it had been picking up quite a bit over the last 6 months hence the need to slow it down!)...but last night i played 5-a-side for the first time in about 5 months, and normally after exercise my body rebels against the healthiness and demands feeding with beer and chocolate and other crap. was rather tempted by the couple of cold cans still waiting in the fridge, but resisted and instead ate everything i could find. drinking 0 - getting fat 1!
Over half way through now, not far off three weeks.
Friday drinks with friends and a mate's birthday on Saturday were big tests.
I left the birthday around 10, (got there just about half seven) by that point most were getting to that annoying drunk level.
I fucking hate the bar it was at too so a bit of a saving grace.
Honestly finding this alright, if anything I'm worried about keeping control come February.
Please feel free to give me your fucking money, link in op.
No probs, i knew I'd get round to it eventually.
I'm still hanging in there, but it's got tougher in the last week...wife bought caffeine free tea bags so now my evening drinks have neither caffeine or alcohol!
Not a drop of alcohol all month.
Along with dieting (made easier by not being drunk or hungover) I have lost 10 pounds.
Financially I would have been screwed this month if I was drinking due to some costly computer tech malfunctions.
Most importantly I have broken a habitual addiction to the stuff.
Today imma have a Guiness or four but I plan to keep the frequency of my consumption pretty low from now on.
Please, any money you can donate will be great, link is in the OP.
just. nearly cracked last night stuck in the house and feeling bored....and knowing the wife was out and she'd planned all along to end her dry January that one day early. Only knowing I would have the moral high ground over her kept me going!
Good job i wasn't trying to diet too though, i've been eating even more biscuits and sweets and stuff to compensate whenever I've felt the urge for a cool refreshing beverage!
