I always wonder how proportionally representative these kinds of clips are - after all it wouldn't newsworthy if we got nicely balanced public opinions on video, where's the click bait in that? - but this kinda thing sure spooks me:

I mean wtaf can you do about this, short- medium- or long-term? Clearly very few of these people are open to have their views challenged let alone changed (like most of us). How do you prevent this kind of wrong-headedness, this terrible non-critical way of thinking, spreading in the population? Are we doomed to generations (due to shoddy education and phony culture wars) of vacuous idiocy? Have these people always existed but simply didn't have as much of a voice before?

Conservatism thrives on such people like in the vid above. It's all about that 1/9/90 class pyramid and maintaining that structure at all costs.

Keep the 90% (working blue collar) dumb, ignorant and uneducated and they will keep voting conservative. Shovel them propaganda through the tabloids, tv and social media and they will keep voting for you. Of course the 90% isn't a homogeneous group. The media they consume is and that counts a lot for their voting behaviour. The only way to break the cycle would be quality education for everyone. In the US not gonna happen anytime soon. Not with the 'only the best' deservedly reach the top mentality that is so prevalent there.

And yeah, such people have always existed. The internet just gives them a voice amplifying it in social media bubbles.

As trump talks of far left fascism from his speech at Mount rushmore I began to wonder do Americans know what the word fascist means. I think it becomes a bit like socialism - it's a bogeyman term that the right use, but they don't really know what it actually means.

Package it all up under communism for a bonus multiplier.

Use of language can enfeeble and restrict free thought as much as it can empower and elighten us with ideas. Most people lack a reflective process that would allow them to interrogate the true meaning of words and ideas and move beyond a stereotypical worldview.

It could be taught early on, except that most of schooling seems to be about indoctrinating them into a particular cultural context.

The ignorant uneducated racist angle is also a useful tool to keep the lower classes divided. Keep them divided so they can't unite in realisation the upper classes are screwing them over from behind. Whether it's health care, education, job oppurtunities, taxes, the accumillation of wealth in the 1%; it's defitely not the foreigners and brown people profiting from it all.

Divided by racism they're also easily conquered by (online targeted) misinformation and propaganda. Combine that with systems like voter suppression, the EC, gerrymandering and Conservatism holds all the cards that currently matter in an election.

So despite Trump acting like an incredible buffoon, chances are he might still get reelected. It all depends on whether the 1% still wants him in the oval office.

I can't wait until he gets his campaign running, whenever it is. Given his recent approach to stuff I assume it will be "Make Kanye Even Greater Again" and he will spend all his time talking about how he and Kim have worked really hard to become as rich as they are, and it's god blessing them for that, so he just needs your votes to get Even Greater, and get Even More of what he believes God owes him.

He's about 5 minutes away from just becoming a televangelist.
