The main contention is that a payment for like $130,000 dollars of shoes was on her card. But as the article says, the kid was using bots to do the purchases, there is no insider info his mum could have given him to help him get the shoes.
So fair play to her for stepping down as its a damaging look for Nike, but I don't see how she could have helped influence her son's botting activity any more than any other rich parent allowing their kids to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of trainers at a time.
The real issue here, is the artificial scarcity that they all create in order to keep interest in the brand and the fact that they are not doing enough to prevent bots from making purchases almost instantly, or to swamp raffles with entries. It doesn't seem very hard to make users answer a basic question when purchasing, that a bot could not do, or to restrict purchases to one per credit card, or one purchase per IP address, etc.

The good thing about continually getting knocked back on raffles is at least I can put the unused money into another raffle. Let's go City Market dunks!
I am prepared once again to receive my weekly L.
