GOTY 2016 - the real one - The Bear and Badger

Rules same as my usual stance on these things, see below. PROVISIONAL DEADLINE OF 31 JANUARY 2017.

Rules/Guidelines/Instructions

1. List your Top 5 games of the calendar year 2016. Include a little text to explain why you've voted for a game, if you want.

2. Less than 5 games listed will be taken as a Top 4, 3 or whatever.

3. More than 5, and I'll take the first/top 5 only.

4. If not numbered, I'll take the list as ordered in the post in descending order (i.e. goty at top, then 2 etc).

5. Posts that say "in no order" will be ignored - there needs to be an order for pointage! (See below)

6. Points allocated as follows: 10, 7, 4, 2, 1.

7. Game needs to have first been released in the UK (or your respective country) in calendar year 2016.

8. HD remakes or updates of games from a previous year don't count.

I gave up on Doom quite early on. The chainsaw was satisfying but you couldn't use it much.

My shortlist is *deep breath* Overwatch, Oxenfree, Doom, Firewatch, Thumper, Stellaris, Furi, Duskers, The Witness, Inside, Monster Hunter Generations, Stardew Valley, Xcom 2, Hitman (surprised so few people are playing this one) - those are all games I played and enjoyed enough to consider for a list.

The games I have yet to play but I would like to play this year are Final Fantasy XV, Quadrilateral Cowboy, Warhammer Total War, Battlefleet Gothic, Dishonored 2, Grow Home, Owlboy, Planet Coaster and The Last Guardian

Flawed? Yes. But an unforgettable experience. Taking off from my starter planet for the first time and flying directly to a local moon and getting out to a explore a new world will stay with me as a favourite gaming experience forever.

2 Ratchet and Clank

It's Rachet and Clank! I love those guys and they always come packing an awesome game. This one, their first outing on the current generation, is polished to the highest of sheens. Oodles of fun, and that's all it takes to keep me happy.
