okami is a great shout.

i think my mind was first blown by resident evil 1 on the ps1...



then more recently with TF: Devastation. Wowed by how much it looks like the 80s cartoon.

A crap game that I eneded up culling to fund my SNES. I remember being amazed at the 3D corridors though, I think it was the first 3D graphics I'd seen at the time.

Everything about this game is nigh on perfect and in 1997, the graphics were incredible. Probably had the greatest draw distance of anything I'd seen at that point.

The water, wow! Still pictures still don't do it justice.

Goldeneye 007 N64

Might look crude now but oh my, felt so real in 1997.

Crazy Taxi Dreamcast

I remember DC graphics most for fusing the best of N64 and PS and eliminating their respective flaws (fog and pixelation). This was incredible, silky smooth and very little pop-up compared to N64/PS at least.

Luigi's Mansion GCN

Looked like the Mario universe I'd always visualised as a kid, almost perfect cartoon graphics.

I remember showing a picture of someone on fire in SFII to my gran and proclaiming to her, "look! It looks like real fire grandma!" Didn't think I'd see any better.

The wow moment from seeing Flashback on the Megadrive for the first time sticks with me. I've never been more surprised by a graphical leap since.

Dante and I_R's shouts of Geometry Wars and Flashback are excellent.

The first from me would Super Mario 64, which floored when I saw that being played in HMV. First though: "Wow, we can play cartoons now!" I think I bought the console the very next day.

Second was Gran Turismo 3. Bought a PS2 and the game, got it home and set it up with a mate. When the game booted up and showed some gameplay through track cams I turned to my mate and said something like "You know I think that's actual gameplay," not quite believing it myself. I think he told me to fuck off or something. I was right, though. Mind blowing at the time.
