Simply get the best Time Trial result you can for the stated track and post an MKTV video or a photo to prove your time by 21:00 on the deadline day, UK time. Videos and images must be embedded in your post, not provided as links, and photos should contain the track name and your name.

The top three times earn points, 3 points for first place, 2 points for second place and 1 point for third place. A final reminder, you must post proof of your time or you won't be able to pick up points for second and third place or even be included in the final results.

The Road to Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 8 is out next year, so it's time to prepare by having some multiplayer fun and by finishing off the Time Trial contests. We'll hash out details of the multiplayer stuff later, but here are the details for the remainder of the Time Trial tracks. As the tracks for the final run through the cups can simply be guessed using a process of elimination, I've decided to simply list all the remaining tracks now.

Time Trial Rules
Simply get the best Time Trial result you can for the current track and post photographic evidence by 21:00 on the end date, UK time (static images preferred but videos will be accepted). The top three times earn points. Remember, you must post photographic evidence to have your time placed in the Hall of Fame. Images and videos must be embedded in your post, not provided as links. Although you may prepare for future Time Trial tracks, only valid times posted between 21:00 on the start date and 21:00 on the end date of that track will be counted.

Mario Kart 7 update data

The purpose of this data is to correct unfair shortcuts when playing online games on the courses Wuhu Island Loop, Wuhu Mountain Loop and GBA Bowser Castle 1. Please be aware that if you do not download this update data, you will not be able to play online multiplayer games in Mario Kart 7. Use this QR code to access the update data on the eShop.

You have to unlock him, it's all based on the total number of coins you've collected. I've just unlocked a new kart after 70 hours of gameplay and 4500 coins. I've still got a ? on the kart and wheels selection lists, so I guess I've still got stuff to open up.

I'm on 1m 53.750s. My top tip is to select a ghost 1 or 2 places above yourself and race them using the same character and kart combo. Once you beat them or come close to it then go for the next ghost up.

Any tbh. I pr'd earlier with a ropey last lap. The speed I'm going I can't get through the windmills.

But my pr was wario, blue 7 and slick. Take a vid of your run and I'll try to give some advice on how you can improve

Oops. Just realised I'm not even using the right shroomspot. It seems only lap one do you shroom through the grass down the path. Presumably to get the coin. Lap two and three the shroom is over the left side patch of grass in turn 3? Then they just hug left on the right ramp and fly under the windmill doing the glider boosts.

Ftr. My time isn't with any of that. The we is 1.40.***

Ok, i'll translate a bit better.

Previously I was shrooming (using my shroom boost) in the spot you lot are talking about which is the grass on the left turn which leads to the "secret" (hardly secret) route on the left which heads towards the windmills. Its down hill with some boosts at the bottom.

This is not now the optimal strat, if you use bruiser (Which i wasn't), which is great for off road sections then the best place to shroom is on the third turn (i think) which is a left facing turn over a small patch of grass on the left.

The reason being is that you then go around the latter grass section but cutting tight. Then when you go off the ramp you glide to the left through the windmills (not to the right as you would expect if you fly straight forwards).

The glider boost thing is a bit strange. I dont know the precise mechanic but if you fly upwards for a bit, then nose dive into the grass below the windmills then you "bounce" back up a bit and you can glide a bit more. Its not that gliding is faster, its just that you get a small boost on the upward bounce from hitting the ground. Who knows why, i presume its a similar mechanic to "ticking" which is the process of shrooming or releasing a mini turbo into the wall and getting a slightly prolonged boost (which is in most versions of MK).

Obviously you all know that the emphasis is to get 10 coins but to stay within your optimum racing line. You should be aiming to get 7 coins lap one. Thats iirc the three on the right turn, the one you can get on the left secret path lap 1, the two easy coins by the windmill. There are probably two more somewhere i've forgotten sorry. i'll try to look later but i'm at work.

One red boost > two smaller blue boosts so really try to get the red boosts. Seriously peeps, the easiest thing is to record your run (switch to the first person perspective as soon as the light goes) and put it on youtube. I'll be able to explain it all much better and show you where you are losing time.
