So this is out.

Fantasy griffball.

Looks absolutely stunning. Full controller support on PC.

I'm about 2 hours in, and it's ony been the last 30 where the combat has made proper sense.

It could be exceptional. There is MP/VS mode. I have no idea how that'll go.

It's kind of a genius idea, I think. Baffling for a good long while though.

Anyone else diving in?

Haven't heard a bad word spoken about this yet and I'll definitely be picking it up.

Shame the multiplayer is local only (though who doesn't love a bit if couch MP?), it seems like it could be the perfect online game, but I can understand that a studio as small as Supergiant lacks the resources to implement it to the same standard as the main game.

Like me with Overwatch. Had one game with stormy and co and meant to get back to it. But life and other games, eh?

Jesus, so it's pretty well tute for the first 90, as soon as it gets real, I'm shit at it. Still lovely though, and I'm slowly learning.

Listening to Crate and Crowbar suggests that the first part of the game until your first ascension choice is basically a tutorial. They've had issues with it though, which i've heard elsewhere. Namely that the game part of the game is so abstract that it's hard to truly parse.

I'd agree, hence my "it might be genius" comment.

Have griffball in mind. But part of it is that the one at a time aspect of the play clashes with the fact it's real time.

I'd suspect that at some time in development it was proper turn based with hexagons ahoy.

Just tried it, very well made (as per all super giant games) but it didn't really grip me

Yeah. That one player at a time, netball crap had me wondering about how the game would play out amongst obsessives.

I mean, you can just rely on the same player, and never pass, by the look of early vids I saw.

Need to look again, I guess.

It's not really true that you can just rely on one player, from the small amount that I've played. Usually if they're fast enough to dodge and move quickly, they're likely to have a long respawn timer when they die/score.

Definitely not true in one sense.

Yes, you'll have dudes who can run it because of speed, but a. They don't score as much (you start with 100hp, fast dudes only take off 15, big slow take 20+) and b. Once you score you're out for the next play.

The issue definitely isn't one dimensional play, it's the opposite.

Original fucking game, I'll give it that. And polished to hell. Ended up getting into the swing of a lot of it.

Lots of foibles and questionable choices, but also some incredible ideas.
