First thing I need to do I think is stop looking for upgrades and try and sus things properly.

Spent the early stages leaving tough stuff assuming more oomf would come.

Not so much.

Nah you just gotta get good sadly. You can improve your damage but the difficulty curve is still tough. Bosses are like Mega Man bosses: they'll take you apart. Still confused by shell throwing enemies in the garden... in the fog canyon maybe? If so, that's an area you might want to avoid for now. Maybe look for the mushrooms.

Just fought my first proper proper boss.

Getting less cack handed.

Its 2d dark souls in all the right ways without feeling like a dodgy copy. (sup, lords of the fallen.)

The mechanics around getting more power/ability etc (charms) are really clever in a nice simple way.

A couple of irritants/quibbles early turn out to be part of that too and take care of themselves.

The music is EXCELLENT.

8 hrs and I'm sure I'm going slow.

Yep. Funny how quickly it all comes together. The regular knight before that, was a bastard first time, then the full you have x amount of hits in this time frame gameplay clicked and everything is Zen.

Just upgraded my charms slots for the first time.

Game opening up beautifully.

Its soooo dark souls, yet doesn't feel like a cheap knock off and still feels like it's own game.

I have no idea how temps finished it in 18 hrs. I'm at 18 with four + unexplored areas open right now.

I did do a mini grind to buy a few things though.

So maybe I'm the equivalent of being level 40 for s&o.

(before anyone gets scared, no you don't have to grind, and no it's not as RPG as ds. Progression is much more like an ori. But cleverer, IMO.)

B took about 35 hours to complete it, and he has seen quite a bit, think he did almost all of the optional stuff too. (but used a thing towards the end that makes sure you can't be killed, so you still need to put in the fight, but a without risk. This was mainly for health reasons, as I think his heart would have exploded or something if he didn't use that).

So yeah, Tempy was quick with the 18 hours.
