Completely fucked my first run as I didn't really think about or consider how the upgrade systems worked and ended up blowing all my resources rather foolishly.
And then I let my favourite pilot die.
Love that you can rename things. Always a winner. -
This is great. Except the bit where I just skipped a turn instead of repairing a unit who was blocking a vek from emerging. RiP that pilot.
The buttons are all over the place actually, upgrading and spending the stars etc. seems clunky on the Switch, doubt it's an issue on PC. -

Nah. It's fiddly, but nowhere near enough to stop me playing. I'd imagine if that happened on Normal it would have been a wipe though, need to be careful.

While I loved the idea of FTL more than the game itself, this is wonderful. Lovely and bite sized but quite gripping. There's some choice weapons (loved the flaming punch and the double rocket so far) and it's awful when you lose some of the tech you've built up.
Nice touches too, I really like how the screen fills with vex if you lose the power grid.SFV - reddave360 -
After a 4 Island victory (on Easy... Which is infinitely easier) with the Rust guys, I'm now playing on Normal again with the Flame Behemoth s. They're pretty interesting - Very much taking out the Vek by setting fire to the world and pushing them into it.
Great stuff. -
Just managed a four-island clear out and onto the final stage on normal, I think I’d have had a chance of completing it were it not for the fact that I got two weapons muddled up at the end of the fourth island and wound up with a tank that was unable to cause any direct damage at all.

I’m planning to stick with the first one until I’ve got all the completion medals.

Has anyone tried taking on the final island before the completing the others? Game says it scales with difficulty so I'm not sure it wouldn't feel like cheating.SFV - reddave360

I'm going to go for that next, because there are medals available for my team. Then on to "Normal" difficulty, which if it's anything like FTL will be harder than a hard thing.

I hate putting games on easy but I think I might have to cave in this case. Fucking addictive thing. -
It actually is easy on easy (unlike FTL) but there's so much situational stuff to learn it's worth it. Fuck making one mistake that ruins a run while learning basic mechanics, take on Normal when you're ready for it.

My first run in normal resulted in a wipe with the Vek swarming the island. The consideration for positioning is so vital. You think you have a turn nailed and then realise you’ve left a back door that cascades across the map and fucks you. Oh well practice practice practice. -

I did this as I wanted a complete run. Next time I'll try an extra island and then all the islands. Work my way up innit.

I've got three island to go before I try Normal. Then I'll try out another crew. Plenty of stuff to do.
I always hate time limits in games, XCOM 2 is a recent example where it puts me off, but how ingenious is it to turn them in your favour here? Tick away you bastard, tick away. -
