How terrible am I at this if I still haven't beaten the first boss? He's duffed me up four times.
Mate took me 9 runs to beat first boss, although on that run I got to final floor before end boss. As with all rogues it's the build what makes it or breaks it
I'm ready to admit I was wrong when I assumed I wouldn't like this. It's actually quite arcade-like in the way you get kicked back to the start when you fail, but you're learning skills and tricks at every attempt. The randomisation of stages doesn't affect my enjoyment in the way I thought it would, not does the luck of weapon drops (builds?) at this stage (I do feel naked without a frost blast though). My only problem is how long it'll take to get on top of it, I'm not used to putting 20-30hrs into 2D platformer, Hollow Knight aside.
Managed the boss anyway, got a good way into the clock tower before getting overwhelmed. Didn't realise how much this was about the grenades and traps until about 20 minutes ago.
Just had an amazing run, after struggling to get anywhere for ages I made it all the way to High Peak Castle for the first time, blasted through lots of areas I’ve never seen before and stomped a few bosses along the way. Felt awesome!!!
Then came across some big bad dudes who battered me senseless
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
They're both totally different. Dead Cells is a hard as nails twitchy action roguelike, Hollow Knight is a metroidvania style exploration platformer with some bits that are admittedly hard as nails.
I suppose it is leisurely compared to Dead Cells, but it's pretty full on in its own way.
Need to get back to this at some point, I felt like I punched above my weight with my last run, which sounds similar to Wookie's, so I need to get a few failures out the way really.
