Dead Cells
  • Heh.

    Seems they may have added
    Spoiler:
I have a new blueprint to unlock.

EDIT:  The "Heh" is at Grem being a loser.
  • I'm still no closer to beating the Hand.
    Gamertag: gremill
  • Oh dear, this will seem like a grem troll.

Fired this up again seeing as there's been heaps of content added.

Unlocked a bunch of new blueprints, and beat hand first time.

Whatever they did to balance has made it considerably easier.

My kit was pretty strong, but certainly nothing OP.

Annoyingly though, I can't seem to open it in regular mode through steam without incurring an error:

Wouldn't be the end of the world, but I get the same error when I try and DL the DLC.

    Anyone know wtf it means?
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • Yeah, yeah - 'easier'. You make me sick.
    Gamertag: gremill
  • I think there’s a DXE error with line 184.  Try that.

    Edit @ Face
  • I can't tell if you're serious.

Should I know what that means?
I'm still great and you still love it.

Started playing this on Bone, for the first time since EA on PC. And it's still grand, eh? Can't really remember the mechanics but had a chunk of cells in my hand, but then got kicked back to the title screen cos of some MS account bollocks and daren't continue without being properly logged back in (which still ain't working), and now don't know if I'll have lost all my progress aaagh

So it was back to the start of the level :-( but through it now. Good stuff. No bosses yet, no deaths yet, slow and steady.

Getting very muddled about weapons/blueprints/mutations/the stuff in buying with cells, mind. Hopefully will become clearer with death.

Gah getting sent back to the beginning on death is tedious.  I guess I need to git gud at racing through the earlier bits.  Died at the Timekeeper this time, with him down to a slither, sigh.

    Am I right that:
    Spoiler:
  • Yeah I think you're right on all that. Keep playing, a breakthrough will come soon.
  • Yep. Pretty much bang on. The more weapons you buy with cells the bigger the pool to choose from at start.

Some folks would be deliberately doing new saves and cherry picking to get just the right weapons, but I just unlocked everything.

With enough reps you can nearly remove rngness, at least with shops etc.
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • There comes a point where you get served up a gorgeous selection of weapons and perks and you feel just wonderful. You’ll get further than ever on this run and it’ll open more for you to keep you going but the thing that keeps you coming back from bad run after bad run is just how good it all feels when everything clicks together.  The whole game is built on that simple promise of repeating that initial reward and how good you feel when you can lord it up even if it’s only for a few moments.

You build up the probability of getting good weapons. Then you can just steamroller through the levels to get where you want. I found that I never got tired of thumping stuff along the way anyway.

Not had a major breakthrough, but have started rushing through stuff a bit more, which I guess helps?  Getting to the timed door things quite often, so an extra roll of the dice at that point, and building towards my third potion thingy which will help too.  But not got past the clock dude yet :-(.

Had one go with some broadsword VI++ or some nonsense, but fucked it on the first boss, epic fail.  Doubt I'll see that again for a while

    Couple of questions:
    Spoiler:

I guess I just keep ploughing on and gitting gudder? Any tips on where to rush and where to not rush, or build advice, or boss tips?? Or basically just feel it out as I go?
  • There's a shed load of doors to ignore until post game.

I'm still great and you still love it.
  • I think it really depends how you feeling and what you have unlocked and what you get first up.

If you like your opening weapons, and manage to nab equipment/grenade early while rushing you can be in a good spot.

As ever with these things there's a balance between trawling first level and finding everything to go into next area fully decked out vs trying to get to second area or third, and surviving with more money etc and getting better gear then.

Also, how are you spending upgrade points? It really is about specialising there, for the most part.

If you have bows etc, hammer purple upgrades.

If you bash stuff, hammer red.

Personally, I'm not mister leet gamer with the great reaction times, so I've always been big on purple stuff.

Bows and turrets etc let you do a lot of stuff from a distance.

I'm still great and you still love it.

I'm pretty melee heavy, so mainly red upgrades. Broadsword is part green too, so a bit of that, and a smidge of purple if it gives a generous hp boost & I have a decent something by then (even if I rarely use it)

All about the combo mutation, and similar things...

But I'm rarely buying things, as the good shit is generally too expensive. I'm only keeping 6k though death, so another of those upgrades might help I guess...
  • Quick query, today I made it to

    Spoiler:

    Is that;

    a) The final boss,
    b) The penultimate boss
    c) Neither, you’ve got a long way to go, scrub.
  • I think it is A) unless the most recent patch stuff reached Switch, in which case I think it might be B?
  • At least it’s not C. Although, I got my arse handed to me, so it may as well be.

    Cheers!
  • I'm going to say A. It's not technically correct but it's probably correct for 99% of people. Myself included.

I'll spoiler this just in case:
    Spoiler:
  • Holy shit. Okay. So, it’s A, with hints of B because C.
  • I've only ever finished to a.

And gone back a few times to try out different/new stuff, but if you're not feeling like you want to I don't think you lose out.

Getting to beat the hotk usually means a good solid playtime.
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • Tbh, it's a strength with Rogue likes. There's a notional boss/end game, and if it's a good un you'll have spent hours trying to get there.

If you want to keep going, there'll be ways to do it for years, if not, stop when you feel like it.
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • This is great.

I am back into this in a major way (so much so that is now challenging for ‘all-time favourite’ status).

I have finished on 1BC and am looking for advice on tactics to take on 2BC. I normally run Tactics, take it slowly, explore everywhere/kill everything. Everything could be going well in the opening biomes and then it goes south, quickly.

    Thanks in advance.
