Despite all teh lulz moments, it is actually a perfectly fine movie - I enjoyed parts of it. It's just that it feels it's going into the motions like the majority of the Marvel movies, and we are in the Star Wars Machine now.

But it takes away a lot of Han's character development in ANH.

The Kessel Run in 12 Parsecs is now true, rather than an example of him bullshitting (see Obi Wans's reaction).

His character arc in ANH where he becomes a good guy is now pointless because he is explicitly told "you are the good guy" and he even makes a decision that STARTS the rebellion.

Yeah it's kinda stupid to take throwaway lines from.the earlier movies and make whole stories/films out of them. They were just a line that was written.

It would have been better as a comedy (more Han/Chewie in the shower stuff) as it would have made it stand apart.

Do we find out where Han got his waistcoat and why he picked that particular hairstyle? And why everyone calls him Hon?

That's the weird thing, of all the ideas they're going to throw out there, Han Solo origin story seems like a slam dunk. The only other idea that interests me is the Obi Wan on Tatooine story, but coming up with a plot for that seems very tough.

Of course, I'm a middle aged man that never goes to the cinema any more, not a teenager who goes every week. Maybe the kids just don't care about the original stuff that much.
