  • A quote for the ages from Gonz: “Hold on, if I close one eye it’s better!”
  • I need new contacts I can't read my phone with my right eye at a normal distance.

Leftie is making up for it but I must be straining myself.

    Budget life hack:

Turn your phone so that you read it at an angle and part of the screen is closer to your right eye. You’re welcome.

  • I don't know if I feel shit because of the cold I've got, or because of the booze last night, or both. Probably both. Urgh.
  • Definitely the cold.

Drink more whiskey, that'll fight the cold.
  • That is actually part of the plan.
  • Had a whisky sesh round my mate’s house on Friday. I’ve got a black eye from headbutting the tap whilst being violently sick after I got home. Good times.

    You puke in the sink?
  • It was the nearest receptacle. My judgement was somewhat impaired.

  • I like my brother in law's sink sick story.  Apparently when he was about 16 he snuck in after a night of park drinking, ran the tap in the kitchen sink for a few seconds then splashed some water on his face in an attempt to sober up.  What he didn't realise was that my future wife - 9 at the time - had vomited in it earlier that night and left it sitting there with the plug in like a weirdo, so he was rinsing his face in lukewarm sick.

Yeah, I just made that face as well.
retroking1981: Fuck this place I'm off to the pub.
  • I like that. Well, not “like” but I laughed.

When I was 18/19 a mate and I went back to his after way too many beers, I went to throw up in the kitchen sink, puked, lost all feeling in my legs and passed out, chinning myself on the edge of the sink on the way down.

    That wasn’t fun
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
  • umm, does anyone know where the thread is where we adopted a badger?
He could've just said they came from another planet but seems keen to convince people with his bullshit pseudoscience that he knows stuff. I wouldn't trust him with my lunch. - SG

  • I've had to just manually go page to page ctrl+f before, if you know which area of the forum it's in (not games presumably) it doesn't take too long.
  • Ctrl+f for 'adopt' in off topic or forum talk.
  • You can find it here.
Come with g if you want to live...
  • One thing I have always wanted is an apartment; my own private space. The fact they are so in demand and so unaffordable has been a source of considerable stress for me. The thought that in all likelihood I will end up in shared accommodation for the rest of my life makes me deeply frustrated and resentful, especially as he trajectory of my psyche has been on a downward spiral for a while.

Softening the sadness has been the fact that I really lucked out with my current room, which I moved into 9 months ago. It’s an old building with high ceilings, wooden floors, a great layout, and it’s 30 square meters, which Is quite large. The rent is really great too. However, it is still shared accommodation. I’m obliged to join in with social house activities. I could in theory be asked to leave at any time if I stop connecting with my flatmates. I can’t just lock myself away for 6 months, and with depression this is something I often crave.

So anyway, I have randomly got the possibility and opportunity to take over an affordable apartment contract. Although it’s what I always wanted, I’m suddenly hit with doubts over the fact that it’s definitely not as nice as my room right now. It’s an ugly building. Low ceilings. Definitely don’t have the space for all my stuff and would have to get rid of a lot.

I really don’t know how to make this decision. With the rate that rents are rising I may my get another chance to get my own space, even if it’s a bit of a crappy one. Sure my nice room is fine now, but as I get older being stuck in shared accomodation will surely cause me a lot of anxiety. I’m sure at some point I will just want to hide myself away from everyone and everything and I’m a bit worried this is my last opportunity to make that a reality someday.
  • I have grown paralyzingly indecisive over the last couple of years, so any thoughts are welcome
  • I feel exactly where you're coming from. I say go for it. The happiness you'll feel will make it all worth it imo.
  • Aye, living in your own space is something I think everyone should try at least once if they can. You can always go back to shared living after a few months if you feel it isn't working, there'll always be rooms for rent.
  • I much, much prefer living on my own; I'd wager the benefit of having your own sanctuary outweighs that of the nicer room you currently have.

Is the potential new place in a good location?
  • Decluttering can also be hugely positive for your mental well-being.
