Not sure my wife would like this.

  • I did that a few weeks ago, didn't utter a single word all day. Was great. I can head to the local if I want a chat.
  • Yeah, I spend enough time talking. Love a bit of solitude. Absolutely adore days to myself.
  • Yep. Genuine future hermit here once she divorces me and the kids leave.
  • The best thing about living alone is not having to speak to anyone in the mornings.
  • If I won the Euromillions I think I'd buy my freedom and use anything left over to build a fortress of solitude. With internet access.

Edit: and no steps for Bramble.
  • The best part about living alone is making yourself bloody marys and bacon butties for breakfast in the mornings.

You'd let me visit tho right? X

  • I'd get bored without visitors yup.
  • To be fair there’s a difference between living with someone and enjoying a
Bit of time by yourself and living along and being on your all the time coming home alone going to bed alone waking up alone and so on and. So forth

Don’t know how true this is, but I’d suggest we all get out zombie survival plans in order just in case.
  • Going to see the apartment tomorrow morning. It’s actually in a pretty great location

I really lucked out with the room I currently have now, so it’s not as if I can just find another room of this quality if the apartment thing doesn’t work out. I reckon I’m paying half market rent on my current living space.
  • I love being alone, every now my again my days off line up with the days that my wife works and the kids are in nursery so I get two days completely to myself.
    And it’s fucking heaven.

I love spending the whole day not talking to anyone, just locking myself away under my duvet with my switch and my laptop
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
  • Me too. Unsocial has been my dominant mood for the last 2 years, and the time I spend with flatmates is largely out of obligation, despite me generally liking the vibe of the flat.

It would be an easy decision, it’s just that my current room is so damn nice. With large sofas and lots of plants, it’s nice enough that I could hang out there with a bunch of friends all day or night (my new studio appt would basically be a bed and storage for clothes). My girlfriend has her own two room place, yet we spend all our time at mine because it’s so much cozier. The apartment I’m hoping it get is quite like hers, only smaller and in a worse building.

Hardest decision I’ve had to make in a long time. I’m almost 10 years here I’ve only had 3 opportunities to get an apartment.

  • Do it, nozy. Jump in. It'll be your flat, just the option of being able to stay in it forever will be enough to at least scratch that itch of yours, and I suspect the reason you like your current room is because you made it yours - you can do the same again.

Go for it and don't look back.
Don't wank. Zinc in your sperms
  • Got myself so hyped up for this apartment in these last 24 hours but then my girlfriend fucked it up. First she arrived 15 mins late to our meeting place, then we discover she doesn’t actually know the address. Opportunity lost. I’m super gutted. It was years since I last saw an apartment I could afford, and with the rents still rising it wouldn’t be surprising if this didn’t happen again. All correspondence with the landlord has been through her- so I can appreciate I would not have even had this opportunity at all were it not for her- but it would have been nice if she had given a little more careful consideration.
  • Tut tut. Women ;)

In all seriousness I’m sorry to hear that mate. I know you were up and down about the idea and it must be gutting now you’ve decided that it’s the move you wanted.
I’m sure another opportunity will come up again, don’t give up hope

Remember all that stuff about reclaiming from payday loan companies? I just got a compensation offer from Wonga’s administrators. I’m guessing they might have all gone out at once – anyone else had one today?

Good news: They owe me a few thousand pounds. Bad news: “Please be aware, the payment you receive will be significantly smaller than your accepted claim amount. This is because it is expected that the total value of all accepted claims for customers/creditors received will significantly exceed the money available to be shared out. The money available to be shared out will not be known until all of Wonga's assets have been sold or realised and certain costs and deductions have been taken into account. Accordingly, it is not possible at this stage to estimate what percentage of your accepted claim value will be paid.”

They promise to have that figured out, and make final payments, by the end of January.

Remember that? I just got word of the final decision. Before the end of January, as promised.

They’re paying out 4.3p on the pound. Fucksake. Less than 5%.

They owe me almost three grand, so I’m getting just over £120.
  • Just seen an advert on telly that uses the theme from Desmonds, which pleased me.
  • State of this.

Pretty sure I predicted a while ago that Brexit was going to lead to a whole lot of consumer brands bringing back old Britain-only names and retro packaging designs.

Well, here’s yer Opal Fruits. Look forward to full sugar Irn-Bru returning next year, once we’re out of the EU laws that led to the ‘sugar tax’.

I like it when they say "you might think we would just look at archives of old designs, but no archive exists, so we had to look at archives of pictures of old designs".

    OK pal.
  • "So, we started asking around to find out what people remembered, and what Opal Fruits meant to them."

    Fuck all, mate.
Come with g if you want to live...
  • Is this what Brexit is for?? To bring back old brands?

    Yay! Nostalgia!
Why stop there? Let’s bring back everything from our past... TB and Polio anyone?

  • You think you’re joking, but keep an eye on the dismantling of the NHS and the potential profits for US drug companies …

“GILD is a case in point, where the success of its hepatitis C franchise has gradually exhausted the available pool of treatable patients,” the analyst wrote. “In the case of infectious diseases such as hepatitis C, curing existing patients also decreases the number of carriers able to transmit the virus to new patients, thus the incident pool also declines … Where an incident pool remains stable (eg, in cancer) the potential for a cure poses less risk to the sustainability of a franchise.”
  • I’m at our union’s AGM. It not very exciting tbh.

  • Start spreading rumours.
  • I did get a free pint tho, so I suppose the twenty-five years of union dues I’ve paid them have been all worthwhile.

  • The price of a pint is getting ridiculous around here, you’re right.
