Done everything I could find.
Renaming the audio settings reinstalled and tried with beta settings on and off.
The annoying thing is I have another PC that runs the T.V. and it works on there but it's only got a gtx 1060 so it can run alyx but not optimal.
So at the moment I can either run it on my main PC through virtual desktop with it's slight lag or using the link with a slower PC.
Will keep on looking for solutions and hopefully can fix it but the inconsistency is annoying.
Link working again.
Turns out it was the latest nvidia drivers. rolled back to the previous set and link works again.
I think it may have been a duff install since there doesn't seem to be others with the same problem but I'm not going to risk updating again until I've play Alyx properly.
I'm used to wires anyway since I've been doing this since the DK1 days.
I just use the velcro cable tidy that came with the USB lead to fix the cable to the back of the quest.
Already played just past the first train and loving the look and feel but now I can play properly I just need to wait for the opportunity to have the living room to myself.
They are a bit expensive, but so worth it for peace of mind.
You can leave them on whist changing batteries with some rough manipulation, or not bother with the velcro ties at all (slight risk if the rubberised grips aren't always pushed on tight). Happy swinging mate.

Had to jump thru a couple of hoops to make sure the hotspot was 5ghz (make it connect to your home router on 5ghz band first) but first test it works great! Much better vid quality and lag than through my dodgy power line connection.
Added bonus, much better internet speed on the desktop pc than the power line as well!
£21.26 is a fabulous price for a 867Mbps dongle. Have an Airport around the same speed but still get the odd stutter and the reason for the incoming router - 1733Mbps baby!

I bought that last night but not had a go yet, I'm waiting until the weekend to give it a good go.
Heads up on a bit of demo. I got an email off oculus saying i had shown interest in testing software, so heres a game to test...
I can't remember signing up for anything but I went with it and the game was announced yesterday. It's a Spider-Man esque web swinger arena shooter. And it's actually quite good. Hard but good. The testing demo is quite generous and defo worth a download.
Go to the store and search for 'untitledgrapplegame' and install it.
Official title is Swarm. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=emb_logo&v=yztbemRNRYU
Played for a few hours and it's great. Think Doom meets the Evil Dead on a comic book canvas. Eliciting jumps, panic and manic laughter, you're encouraged to be inventive fending off the waking nightmares.
Recommend the smooth motion for the extra immersion, and study the lighter flame for an indication of which way to go...
Worth a punt if you want something unique that puts the willies up you.

Now it's all very well playing the above in the daytime but playing at night? Seemed a good idea, bit of a buzz you know?
Reached the cabin in the woods, ooh - shotgun above the fireplace. Let's just say the following 30 seconds had me crapping myself more than anything Half-Life: Alex has served up so far.
Yes it's a bit janky, but the premise and the execution of twin wielding items and weapons, desperately fending off the onslaught sometimes beats the shinies hands down.

Have this 3m, maybe a bit short and on the heavy side but it's available through Amazon UK. Recommend pairing with these right angle adaptors to ease the load pressure on the Quest connector.
