When I finally managed to actually try the PC Engine, I was surprised by how inharmonious the quality of the sound appeared to be, when married to the visual capabilities of the system...

Not that I'm aware of, they haven't charged me for any of my preorders and if I go to check the invoice under tracking details it comes up with.

Hmm, the benefit of holding a little cash for a short while doesn't outweigh the massive pain in the arse that comes with accounting for it separately, not a massive firm like Amazon. Little mum and pop stores, yes they hold a large deposit to protect themselves and their initial outlay to order your goods, but being as pre-order money can only be accounted for at the time that the service/goods are provided not at the time of payment, and that so many items shipping date slips (hello Last Guardian) it becomes a right headfuck to mess about with it. I imagine they don't screw with it

I think that was the "test" they ran in May, I read that they decided against it due to the overwhelmingly negative response.

Not for Amazon, they can and will suck it up. That's why I gave the mom&pop example alongside it, for them that's an issue, there's genuine exposure. For amazon it takes up a little more warehouse space than planned, but not for long, goes into sales inventory as soon as order cancelled, and I imagine being such a big distributor that they have sale or return deals with most publishers, which wouldn't remove exposure but certainly significantly reduce it, especially compared with the Kwik-E-Mart above

That's pretty snide, maybe publishers shouldn't incentivise sales through exclusive content, and just make all content available to all purchasers. But that goes to the very heart of the industry as it stands these days
