The Racing Thread of Burnin' Rubber and Being Awesome!
  • The handling is all wrong in gt sport

And the number of cans I can normally do is 12.
  • I've been giving GTS and Forza 7 a good run recently and have enjoyed both. The difference in GTS since the patch is night and day, loving some of the new tracks. Handling in both is great ( although I prefer GT's) however the racing is Forza is miles better. GTS just seems a bit sterile (enjoying some TT's though!)

Thanks for the Grid updates Bob, think I'm in post Christmas.

Turn assists off and remember you can change traction control, brake balance etc on fly.

(I usually have to off or on 1 for gr4, gr3 cars etc)

@Eric: gt sport is amazingly good online.
Loads of clean gentlemanly drivers and great tracks, weather etc.

  • I nearly bought Asseto Corsa last night for £7.99. Reviews seem mixed, what are the thoughts on here about it? I'm not so much a fan of racing sims, just good racers.

    It's a sim and a bit boring.

That was the kind of gist I got about it. Thanks

Yeh I got it for use with my wheel and it just doesn't do anything interesting.
It's too much of a sim and theres just no fun to be had it seems.

I could always re-download and let you try via shareplay if you wanted!

  • i got it when i got my wheel for PC too. it was enjoyable to drive as a sim with the full wheel/pedals setup, but can't say i enjoyed the single player side of things, only did a couple of dull events. mostly just played online races and tried not to plow into everyone and not come dead last. :)

Yeh it's a great sim, but ultimately dull and a bit boring.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I've had my fears confirmed.

It's one of those ones that seems like a bargain but in reality you would never have the time to play it. My PS4 is full of that.

  • Just had a bit of a moment on GRiD

The full japanese circuit in the australian touring cars.. fucking bonkersly hard.. very fast flowing track with lots of elevation and several places where  you need to take a series of bends flat out.. used all five rewinds on the first lap.

Big heavy rear wheel drive touring cars get four wheel drift and having to absolutely nail it to keep up with the pack. Got in the zone and nailed the four laps.. fucking nails.

Have you had a go at online yet? There was one small car that I experienced that was like a pocket rocket. The sensation of speed and the handling was unreal.

tried the online. Was in a really full lobby and doing really well.. up in to second place and feeling like some kind of racing god.. finally work out that it's fourteen bots and one other dude and he's winning. Might try again tonight.

    Finished the Touring Car section.

  • Any body else have textures regularly fail to load in properly on GRiD?

Still plugging away at the campaign. Muscle cars on the long variations of city tracks was a highlight. Especially on the SEATTLE course that actually uses the famous hill/bump things..

The AI continues to be variable. Some races you can overtake take most of the cars on the opening straight.. They swerve more than Verstappen and they are buggers for tapping you into a spin, Nemesis or not.

  • I’ve just noticed the single seaters in Grid, which have no headlights, produce cones of light as if they had headlights!!

Oh my god it’s so immersion breaking !! If only it was a Sony exclusive

  • Spotted on twitter that Codies have made available a trial of the new Grid on Bone and PS4. Will grab that later.
  • Colin McRae themed pack for Dirt is coming out in March.

    https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-01-29-dirt-rally-2-0-is-getting-a-colin-mcrae-themed-dlc-pack
The Flat Out pack picks some of the highlights of McRae's career via some 40 new scenarios - and of course featuring his iconic Subaru Impreza S4 Rally, as well as the introduction of 12 new routes that wind their way through Scotland's Perth and Kinross.
I might pick this up. Curious what the courses are and whether I'll recognise them. He used to run a rally up near Pitlochry that I went to a few times so i'm curious to see if that's included.
  • I met him once when I was time keeping on the Manx rally
