AI Dungeon - Grow your own story
  • Hmm does the usual tap hold not work for selecting the text?

I think you can publish stories, then probably get a link or something to get at it.
  • So I've been playing it quite straight with my fantasy story and it is working really well. I'm going to call it 'Rise of the Peasant Girl'
    Part 1: From Humble Beginnings

I'm interested to see where this is going. I've got a vague idea for an overall plot, but who knows what will happen?

  • I crafted some pretty terrifying porn
  • Formating fucked.
  • I've had an idea: We all start from the same initial custom scenario, and see how our seperate playthough's diverge. For starters try this -
You are _____________, a magician and conjurer on your way to a local pub where you will be performing tricks for the patrons tonight. You have a wand, a cape, and a small dove in in your magician's bag. You stride down the pavement confidently, eager to get your act started and impress everyone with your magic skills. You walk up to the _________ and walk through the door into the bar.
Replace the two ____ bits with your stage name and the pub's name, and go from there :)

    Spoiler:
  • That's what happens when I don't go in with the intention of making, as Griff puts it, "terrifying porn". Never again.
  • Haha. It reminds me of that bit in Inception when everybody turns on you, then someone strides up and stabs you to fuck. Give it another go, maybe the AI will look kindly on you this time ;)
  • Hah! Get fucking rekt Smitty.
    Spoiler:
"Let me tell you, when yung Rouj had his Senna and Mansell Scalextric, Frank was the goddamn Professor X of F1."
  • @GurtTractor and friends, I've done the scenario and it wound up quite nice and wholesome...!
    Spoiler:
  • I tried it again and it took a slightly more bizarre turn.  Captain Fucky was the name of an NPC in my last attempt at a story last night btw, I didn't make it up.
    Spoiler:
  • Both excellent. That second one is just hysterical. I think when the singularity happens the AI is at least going to have a good dark sense of humour.

My run on that scenario on the previous page started off real wholesome, but got real scary quite suddenly.
  • I don't know exactly how the MP works but I guess we can probably give it a custom scenario. We should put one together to get us off to a good adventure.
  • Here's a basic MP one, @wookienopants and I are just starting it off to see how it goes; but a custom scenario would be ideal for it.
  • I have no idea what is going on
  • I can't figure out who's perspective the AI is generating.
  • I tried Gurt’s set up. I had fun.

It’s weird in that it doesn’t record which bits are you when you use the “story” setting so it’s hard to tell which bits are the AI being weird, and which are me, but here you go...

Anyway, magic, hats, and the mafia...
    Spoiler:
  • Yeah I find that you have to be quite clear in who is talking and doing things, like the AI doesn't have the same mental picture of what is happening as you. So lots of "blah blah blah" said X, and X turned around and such.
  • Also when you use the story input option it doesn't indent it and mark it with a > so it's tricky to tell if the line of text is player or AI written in some of those parts. I've been editing mine after the fact so it's more clear but maybe it can be done at the time somehow.

I've found using the /remember section keeps the Ai on track pretty well.

Yep, that’s what I meant really. I should probably go back and make it clearer but I’ve already forgotten where some bits came from!
  • It's a credit to the AI that it can be tricky to tell what's human and what's generated at first glance.
  • Was just playing around and if you add a > at the start of a Story input it will indent it properly. For example: "> You and the mercenary charge the enemy wildly"
  • I've found using the /remember section keeps the Ai on track pretty well.

What syntax did you use in it?  I've been playing a bit, want to make sure I'm doing it right.  I've had success with "You have a pair of red shoes" and that kind of thing.

    I keep it simple.

    Character X's brother is missing.
Character X's missing brother is called Dave.
Dave works at the pig farm.
