I only recently realised this thread was being used to properly nerd out, which is something I can get on board with. The Marines are from messing about over the last week, and magnus took fucking ages earlier in the year.
Once you move on its hard to go back. The only difference you'd ever notice from putting several more 10s of hours into him would be zoomed in photos.
That nurgle weathering is sweet. I have 6 of the easy build plague Marines from the conquest magazine who could be next under the brush, so looking forward to some verdigris.
I never really got super into the weathering with my Death Guard cos when I started it was a bit beyond me, so a lot of people tell me I paint them "too clean" but I am happy with them so far! Glad to see another painter joining the ranks. I've told Rouj he's gonna end up getting Kill Team regardless of how hard he tries to resist.
It's supposed to be a nod to the original world eater heraldry. I am going to put some lunar wolves transfers on them as a further reference, since I won't be using that part of the world eater transfer sheet.
Really it was just an exercise in painting white using gws nuln oil rather than an oil wash over varnish (which is much, much quicker, but has its own problems).
I don't think it's as bad as yellow. The gw yellow layer paints have much worse coverage than the light greys.
Gw white is dog shit though - in contrast the p3 white paint is very good if you can find it. Mine has dried up now so I'm back to the chalky gw one until I can be bothered to source it again.
Nah, I am nowhere near good enough. The quality level is so high there that it's basically impossible to reach without dedicating all your time to painting and improving.
I appreciate the comment though! I did definitely try hard on all of the above stuff!
Big and angry and red all over! Looks really great. I do like the Khorne stuff, but I can only afford my allegiance to one Army.
The guy with the nose is the Spoilpox Scrivener, a new Herald of Nurgle. That was the first model I ever tried glazing on, which is why the green is so good I think.
I cancelled my subscription when I realised 6/700 was way more than I would expect to pay on models over 2 years. Plus I'm not that excited by the primaris or nurgle Marines.
That, and the sniffs of a new keeper of secrets in the air.
Are those from the conquest magazine? I have up to issue 6, with only issue 1 painted so far. I've been doing some Escher gangers since they were completed, so not making any progress....
It looks like you've applied your base coat directly to the plastic. I'm not sure if this is wrong these days, as no one talks about undercoating with primer. Are the base paints sufficient?
Once those guys have painted bases they will look great.
