Finished building the Morghast. Christ, these models are a lot more complicated nowadays! I'm sure the real Big Boi minis are in another world but even this chap took me an age. Really satisfying.
Can't wait to make a start on painting like a scrub!

Morghast are a bit of a transitionary kit - about 4 or so years old, predating AoS, they’re quite complex. A lot of the Ossiarch stuff is very simple by all reports.

Wasn't too bad all in all; there were just a few bits that didn't seem clear and I probably didn't do the best job of. Still... we got there.
Tried out some contrast paints on him. They're pretty effective at making an ineptman look a bit more like he knows what he's doing - Might do some highlights with Ushabti Bone to try and make him look a little nicer. Still unsure how I'm going to do the swords and the spooky bits at the moment. Or the armour. Was thinking a deep purple for the armour plating - Probably spooky blue for the skeletal stuff? Should have aetheric blue (or whatever it is called) as I quite like the effect that gives.

Also, I now see what you mean about people buying boxes and posting pics of them. I joined a Bonereaper group to see some paint schemes and so many maddun's are buying, like, 15 boxes of kit on Day 1...

Black Templar is quite strong, i’d thin it with medium first, or just use Nuln Oil. There are a few good alternate schemes here https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/10/24/ossiarch-bonereapers-the-sub-factionsgw-homepage-post-1/ and probably more in the battletome.
People bulk buy for new armies quite a lot because the rules are out early enough that lists are theorycrafted in advance. Still makes photos of them boring though, who cares if you bought 3 boxes of Mortek Guard? -
Whipped up a bug today as he's been sat on the shelf for days. Love a good bug, love contrast paint more!

The little pink bits of fish look so good as pops of colour, especially against the blue armour. I like the black to blue of his horn and the swords a lot as well.

I know there's not much boardgame chat goes on in here these days, but I'll ramble on anyway. I'm still gaming at least twice a week, often more.
Has anyone played Cyclades? Over the years i seem to have collected a large number of Bruno Cathala games (well, games he's had an input to as he usually works with another designer).

Yeh, I seem to have reached the pinnacle of nerd and have a favourite boardgame designer. Dunno what it is about his designs though, I just love them all.
Anyway, I keep putting Cyclades into my shopping basket but then hesitate as I've read conflicting accounts as to whether it works with 2. I often play with 3+ players, but like to get stuff that also works with 2. Anyone had any experience with it?
As an aside if anyone wants a game to play over Christmas with family that includes kids, get Dice Town. It's phenomenal (and also a collaboration between Bruno and Ludovic Maublanc- same as Cyclades).
You're rolling dice, robbing banks, stealing land from one another, stealing money from one another. All great values to teach kids. But man, it's so much fun. Someone gets to be the sheriff and decides ties, but they can also be bribed. i had my nephew make me a brew on Saturday so I chose him over my bro in law
Just an amazing game to laugh and argue (in a good way) over. -
I’ve played Cyclades with 2. It’s a good game at 2 but I think it works better with the randomising third player because the auction in the game becomes less predictable.

I didn't really enjoy normal 7 Wonders, but Duel is immense. Bruno obviously sorted it out.
Some Asmodee titles are half price atm on Android. Not sure about iPhone. I grabbed Isle of Skye. -
So South Park featured a boardgame called 'Nemesis'. Basically 'Alien' the boardgame. Would love to play it apart from a) its stupidly expensive, well i think it is, though boardgame enthusiasts may tell me otherwise and b) id have no one to play it with. The latter is just sad.

Send messageSlowest painter ever reporting in. Terminator 4 of 5 got polished off last night. These pictures came out really badly the colours are quite garish and contrasty, particularly on the base, dunno what happened there.
Anyway, still having a few issues with my whites, although this time I started at the brightest highlight for the recessed panel lining and worked back to the base colour, which worked much better access I think next time this will let me do a couple of thin coats per highlight layer which will really help stop the chalky bits happening. Tbe horns could use a bit of tweaking on the final colour at the tips, there's not enough colour there and it's a bit of a jump in tone compared to the other layers. Even though the striping isn't super neat I'm really happy with how it came out, I managed to get some quite fine line work in for the highlights which I always usually struggle with a lot so it was nice to get them where it counted.
Last up for the squad is the captain, with plenty of opportunity to embellish things on the model. Have a bunch of ideas for things I'm going to try out with him."Let me tell you, when yung Rouj had his Senna and Mansell Scalextric, Frank was the goddamn Professor X of F1." -
