im enjoying this a lot, how do we team up though and fight bigger things?
the fate things seem to be loads of folks fighting loads of monsters or whatever and iv only seen one thats huge (everyone seems to avoid it).

im level 5 now and iv just got my linkshell too.

Release date is 27th August. Not sure about resets for new characters. PS3 and PC players do play on the same servers, just the same as XI.

I do like the beta but I am sad that it's turned into a game that essentially replicates every other MMO out there and fails to replicate the balletic tempo and timing of XI. I guess it was inevitable when 1.0 failed that this would happen but my hopes of an original take on a tired genre have been dashed when Bahamut wreaked devastation on those creaking servers.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be there for release and I will give it a darn good go. I'm currently bumbling around on a Legacy server called Gungnir. However, if you guys get it kicking off on Coeurl then I'll jump back in on there for beta. For the release my Linkshell is transferring to the Sargatanas server when Gungnir is dismantled.

I hope you all enjoy beta. The Collector's Ed looks sweet.

Afaik this bit of beta lasts for the weekend before a stage 4 fully open jobbie end of July-ish (maybe?) and a launch sometime in August.

No real idea how meet ups happen aside from organising them independently of the game itself. I'm sure there's some frisky way of party chatting and grouping up as per yer standard MMO stuff but haven't hit it yet.

So far I've also unlocked some kind of linked tanking abilities that make me stare at spinning circles more than the fight itself. Not a problem; I like the linky idea really.
So far (as a long absent and barely competent MMOer) it seems to be fine by the numbers stuff. I don't think I'm qualified enough to tell if it's really much better or worse than the current push to F2P but if it gets hype then I could easily see myself dropping a couple a quid a month to keep up.

Is there folks here planning on stepping in in August/release?

That's the way MMOs work. There is no save state. All the data, everything you do, is stored on the server for the realm you are on. So, if you've done something, you have done it. What happens at your end has no bearing on it.

Good point Sas, as I say it's been long long time since I last dabbled in the MMO arts. Collecting bear bollocks are great an all but it's the m part of MMO that brings you back.

If there's a push come release I could probably punt a char on whatever server is chosen. Have to see ow it goes...

Did everyone get a new wave of Beta keys? Is this the one that carries over your character? I havent played it for a while, Its not really my bag. So if they are new Beta keys then I have 2 I dont want.

Help me here. I got the collectors edition of the first one, so I already have a security token. I will get the new one free on PC if I understand this correctly. Do I need to spend £52 or whatever price it ends up being in store (though minus 20% discount) to get the PS3 CE? I want the rest of the stuff, but it seems a lot to spend on a game for associated tat when I can already play it on PC.

Aye. I'll be there for early access. Hyperion will be my new starting server and I'll most likely move my old character over there in 2-3 weeks when they allow server transfers.

Both the PC & PS3 open beta clients are available for download. 6.8g on PS3 and 7.3g on PC.
