Playing around with the Redmi note5 now.
Great, great phone. It's incredible it's Geekbench score (roundabout 5000) rivals the 1+3t, a flagship from 2 years ago. Still not a patch on current SD845/AppleA11 hi end which scores around 10000 but still amazing nonetheless.
Arm is slowly but surely moving in on Intel's ix territory. Intel should be worried.

It's excellent actually. Much better than the Redmi note 3/mi3. Focus hunting is gone now. Even 4k video is nice and steady with open camera. Camera overall rivals and surpasses even an Galaxy S7 bar low light situations. Which is crazy good for a budget phone. This just might be the best budget phone yet (sub €200), definitely one with the best camera.
Heh, contract up with voda, walked in, asked what I could get.
Fuck a Samsung, nearly went Sony again, but then realised I could get an oppo r15 pro. Extra 10 gig of data and $30 cheaper than current plan. Winning.
Notch is the worst thing ever. Of course it's Apple so they get a pass. Morons copying it need shooting.
I still think I'll get a Redmi Note 5 before the year is out. I only buy phones that take memory cards on principle, although I'd be fine with a sealed unit if the upgrade prices actually reflected the extra costs to them and weren't just naked gouging. Another thing stolen from Apple btw.
Whilst we've not had a quantum leap in battery tech, a combination of bigger capacity, more efficient processors, and better software has got us to a decent position.
This phone is pretty great. Notifications are almost too minimal. But it's running like a boss. 120gig storage is nice. 6meg ram also. Battery passed the test last night. Lost nothing when nothing was happening.
Have sussed most things with the Oppo now and dig it.
But one thing is super annoying. Can't get any clock widgets to play nice with it. Seems to be tough to get wallpaper apps that cycle pics to update as well.
