  • I'd just like to point out that Star Trek is into its fifties now, not 40.

Also, that last episode was a bit gick - felt like at least an episodes worth of plot points was ignored to get to where they wanted to be.

  • Tyler and Michael for worst on screen romance ever.

Found more bad parts than good parts in this ep. Started well. Resolved badly. Klingons apparently respect a terrorist.

I am quite happy that Michelle Yeoh gets to stick around though.

As much as I can pick holes in every episode (fucking mycelium!) I still enjoyed it in the whole. I'm a sucker for a bit o Trek.

    And Stargate is awesome.
  • This finale was a bit "...Oh right...ok." and it came as a surprise, but it shouldn't have because it was very a starfleety resolution.
Which is kind of why I enjoyed the season in general, it was batshit mental, kept me guessing and was never boring or overly predictable.

And the hits keep on coming. Just keep batting through. It’s an interesting choice. Overall this was the weakest episode of the series, but they needed to wrap up some way and still keep you a bit intrigued for the next season. Overall it’s still a solid entertaining show.

Finished Discovery. Well...kinda finished it; fell asleep during the last ep. Subpar acting, a fairly unlikeable main character and the of ditching standalone eps means it gets a thumbs-down from me. Liked that last scene, though.

I thought this was interesting. Star Trek Online has introduced the same avatar 3D printing service as other MMOs, but with Star Trek ships.

Do you have a favorite ship in Star Trek Online? The one that’s always carried you through, no matter how tough the fight? The one that you’ve lovingly built and rebuilt again and again, chasing that perfect set up, and just the right colors? The ship that you proudly call your home among the stars? We’re happy to announce that, starting today, Captains all over the world can begin the process of bringing that ship to life. You’ll be able to order a 3D printed, high quality collectible of your ship to keep with you at work, at home, or wherever you want to see the ship you love. Here’s how it works: Ready the starship you want printed, and head to the ship tailor. You’ll find a brand new button that reads, “3D Print This Ship.” Clicking on this will bring you to the option to learn more about this process, or to print this ship. Once you’ve chosen to print the ship, it’ll upload directly to our partner, Mixed Dimensions. You’ll be able to pick from three different options:

    Collectible Version
    Base Price: $350
Captains can commission one of the company’s master artists to hand-paint a premium, full-colored resin model of their starship, which includes detailed shading. Exceptional artistry and focus is placed on each individual ship.

    Single Color Version
    Base Price: $225
Captains can order a 3D-printed model of their starship, painted in either gold, silver, bronze or black. The model is polished, finished and ready for display.

    Primer Version
    Base price: $200
Model painters and hobbyists can order a primed model of their favorite starship, coated in a base layer of primer and ready to be painted.

Since every customized starship is individually crafted and hand-painted, these ships will only be created in batches of 100 units at a time. When players place their order with Mixed Dimensions, they will be notified of the estimated time it will take to create and deliver their starship. In addition, captains will also receive photo updates of their ships in real time, notifying them when their collectibles have been printed and painted.

Producer Alex Kurtzman recently took over the role of showrunning the latest Trek series’ sophomore season. But according to multiple reports today, he’s just signed a new deal with CBS that could usher in multiple new Star Trek shows. Hold on to your butts...

Variety reports that Kurtzman has inked a $25 million deal with CBS as part of a five-year plan to bring more Trek shows to TV in the wake of Discovery’s success. According to the site, five series are currently in early development:

A teen-oriented series set at Starfleet Academy from Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, the duo behind the recent Dynasty reboot and Marvel’s Runaways adaptation.

A limited series with a currently confidential plot.

A limited series based around the beloved character Khan, from the original Star Trek and the classic film The Wrath of Khan—something that’s been rumored for a while as being spearheaded by Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer.

An animated series with another currently confidential plot.

However, The Hollywood Reporter might have details on at least one of those mysterious limited series. The trade reports that one show in Kurtzman’s new deal could bring back one of Trek’s most beloved characters: Sir Patrick Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard. According to THR, both Kurtzman and producer Akiva Goldsman (who departed Discovery after its first season) are attached to the series, which would be lead by Stewart reprising his role as Picard.

  • Confirmed by CBS and Patrick Steward (he released a statement). Jean Luc Piccard is coming back to Star Trek in a new series.

Takes place 20 years after Nemesis and will be something very very different.
  • Is it set in some sort of Federation Old Folks Home?

    New Trek klaxon.

It’ll be an animated series, the first Trek comedy and will be focusing on the lower tiers of workers on a starship. It’s also being written by a Rick and Morty writer.

    https://deadline.com/2018/10/star-trek-lower-decks-animated-series-rick-and-morty-mike-mcmahan-alex-kurtzman-cbs-all-access-1202489207/
  • So it's Red Dwarf then.
  • Rick and morty is actual the best sci fi going. Outside of the funny they have done some great stuff with the concepts they use. I particularly liked the split dimensions one at the start of season 2.

  • Yeah I’d agree with that. Not sure about this trek cartoon. Spoofing Star Trek isn’t exactly new ground but I’ll watch a few.
  • Spoofing star trek feels a dull road. It's been done in movie and series form (haven't seen it but the set McFarlane series is a trek spoof isn't it) and numerous other shows have ripped on it from Simpson's to it crowd (the star trek porno is hilarious) a comedy set within a star trek universe could work absolutely fine though.
