The ‘angels are more advanced beings interfering with the affairs of less advanced alien species’ is a Babylon 5 rip off. B5 probably ripped it off an old sci-fi story.

Mystery cube that magically knows everything saves the day. Then time-travelling omnipotent alien saves the day. Since they’re probably connected, a later episode might reveal this to be one supergiant deus ex machina instead of two large ones. I hope they do delve into the Prime Directive stuff a bit because they almost caused the genocide of an entire species and it was just luck that they didn’t. It will probably just be forgotten.

Clem Fandango is atrocious. He’s the worst person in this. He’s so wooden and half his lines are mumbled. No I can’t hear you Clem Fandango.

I thought they were going for the old ‘Kelpians are the Ba’ul’ and it’s all smoke and mirrors to keep the rest of the race subjugated. But they went for the twist that wasn’t a twist twist. I don’t know how either of these creatures can be prey. You couldn’t make a sandwich out of the meat on Saru. And tar monster doesn’t look very appetising either. I thought when Saru shot his head spikes out, it would kill the tar-covered Pans labyrinth Eye monster. But it did fuck all(?). So they do hunt them or they don’t or what?

If Spock is in that bloody angel suit, I will walk (no I won’t). Alright that’s it, see you next week.

I still think it might turn out that the Ba'ul are basically the Kelpians. They'll want to do more Saru-focused episodes in future.

I will lol if it turns out Red Angel is them wrapping up the unresolved Future Guy plot point from Star Trek Enterprise.

The funeral. Holy fuck they are really taking the piss now. You would think it was Jean Luc Picard himself getting shunted off to space. Calm the fuck down lads. It was just a redshirt.
And Stamets : "I can't do that, the amount of energy required...almost impossible..." Someone else: "But this place X is a funky place". Stamets: "Oh yeah that will be fine, will work".
Not to mention Burnham fucking milking it as usual. 
IMO Get rid of Burnham and Clem Fandango and the show gets instantly better. Or just get some decent character writers.

I was ranting about this in work to a colleague last night. They just dropped it in casually, 'oh aye, a time crystal, we need one. Chris, away and see about that, cheers'. I've never read the books, so i dunno if they're a thing in them or not, but the way they just appeared in the storyline and all the characters just accepted it, as if they were a regular thing annoyed me a bit.

And what, they just grow on that planet? And the klingons just all agreed amongst themselves that it was a weapon so powerful they wouldn't use it anymore? The klingons?? Even if you accept that, they then decide to leave a bunch of monks guarding them so they can accelerate shrubbery growth?

Was really enjoying this series up till this episode. Well, enjoying it apart from the ginger doctor. He annoys me.

pikes future vision. I'm sure I've seen at least the beginning of the original trek episode where spock commandeers the enterprise to go to a severely disabled pike's aid.

a borg origin story. Artificial intelligence, from the future, coming back to fuck up humanity as they'll defeat it in the future. Nanobots, technology fusing with biological life etc. I quite liked enterprise, and i thought the episode with the automated space station that fixed stuff but stole bodies in return was the start of the Borg. After they fucked it up enough to escape, you saw it repairing itself in a very borg-y way.
