It seems there's a whole little community out thereYeah I ended up getting something super cheap and cheerful from ebay, there's a bunch of things that looks very suspiciously similar to the Faithfull stuff, think they're all kinda the same though that one has the plates bonded on plastic I think, which isn't that ideal. That said I'm not planning on applying much pressure so I think I'll be alright for a bit. Next thing is to get a strop and some diamond compound paste stuff Ta very much for the help peeps.Yossarian wrote:A guy I know who is into knives enough to go on a day’s forging course owns one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Faithfull-DWQUAD-Diamond-Sharpening-4-Sided/dp/B0010XF6SW/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?keywords=diamond+knife+sharpener&qid=1554892062&s=gateway&sr=8-17 I imagine it’d cover you.
pantyfire wrote:Top tip. Strops are expensive for what they are. About £20 on eBay for one on a length of wood. I bought a cheap leather belt from a charity shop and glued it to a bit of wood I had lying around. Bought some smurf poo polishing compound and bingo.
