Can't quite believe I've let the SNES emulator on PSP slip me by. Just put about 300 SNES roms on it and I'm stunned. I'm playing Super Metroid on my PSP!!!!! Fucking brilliant. To think my PSP has been collecting dust for years. Man.
Before I start researching this Dolphin business, is this for the Wii? I've got all the gubbins on my Wii already so can I start putting Gamecube and N64 games on there?
Ok, I finally have a working PSP. It has firmware 2.60 on it, and I haven't updated it yet because I know these things are important. It has a teeny little 32MB Memory Stick.
What do I need to do to turn it into one of these incredible emulation machines I keep hearing about? And can I get some sort of adapter to plug a MicroSD or something into it? If so, what size will it take?
I had a pop on my emu psp this weekend.
What Snes emu are people using?
Super Metroid is unplayable on mine and Aladdin is dropping sprites.
My MD and N64 emus run like a dream, Sonic 3 felt weird running at full rate not nerfed pal rate, I got stuck between two springs for a good 45 seconds.
Should show what's compatible, had a quick look, the 4 and 8 gig variants are both around the ten pounds mark, be careful of fakes though, just Google memory stick pro duo

So I got my iBuffalo controller. Its D pad is suprisingly accurate for a tenner controller.Plus it doesnt lag my Raspberry pi like the ps3 controller did.
The next generation doesn't start until MAG comes out.
Quite tempted to buy a GCW Zero now, which was a Kickstarter thing I believe. I need to read up on how well it's been supported post launch, but on paper this might be my dream handheld. Would like to get my thumbs on the dpad to confirm. £135, so it's gone down a few bob since I last looked. Alternating between PSP, JXD and Gemei A330 depending on the game is becoming a chore worthy of its own first-world-problems meme.
The wanting it has increased, so I've cancelled the cheap hard drive Eric linked to last week, which frees up £63. Can't see myself not buying one in the next 24 hours.
I've been thinking about something similar to that, although I was thinking Android rather than Linux simply because it seemed easier. Sell me on that box, Moot.
Portability and dpad are the main factors for me, plus reports suggest the build quality is very good. It'd be hard to recommend the GCW over a JXD7800b (android) if you don't plan to carry it around though, especially as the latter can be grabbed for £100 new.
If you like the clamshell look, the Android GPD X D is a solid option apparently, although it's the most expensive of the three at £160:
