I've finally added my new office (as of January 2017) to my Amazon addresses, which means I'll probably order loads of cds when I'm bored now. Two more Kathleen Edwards records arrived today, I'm ready to go deep.
Bought Brandi Carlile's latest, seeing as it kept Prine from the Americana top spot (no sour grapes from the big man no doubt, she's on his album too). It's very good. I've got Stories (which I picked up after buying a covers version of that album, called Cover Stories) which is also well worth a listen.
Here's the emotional heart of the new one:
@gman might like this. I can imagine Joan Baez or Emmylou getting hold of it for a full-on belt up, wonderful song, I'm racking up the individual listens already. Looks like I've got some catching up to do, this one's her 6th album.
I listened once on a pre-release stream, waiting for the disc to arrive from America now as I didn't fancy paying £15+ on Amazon Prime. It seemed better than his last one, going to see him in May. Glad he's put Jesus & Elvis on a record as it's always a standout live.
Cheers. Trouble in Mind is just as good if not better than KMAG, Beaumont is he best ballad for me. Little Rock is also great and kicks off with my favourite ever by him (one of my favourites by anyone in fact - Wish I Hadn't Stayed So Long). Co-write watch: he wrote Rivertown - which is amazing - with Guy Clark and shares Drunken Poet's Dream (and Chickens) with Ray Wylie Hubbard (who put out a slightly different version of the former a couple of years later). You're in for a treat. Flowers & Liquor has its moments too.
Hey moot! Sorry I didn't say thanks when put this together the other day. I had a sneaky listen to the first track and enjoyed it, going to give them a proper listen over theweekend. Will report back which kinds of a way I felt after listening.
