I would 'Shop those first two bee photos together so you had a third one on the purple flower. Then win a prize at a photography club and then later get disqualified for cheating.
Evening all, Im trying to get back into photography lately. I don't get out much to take photos but I have a mountain of unprocessed shots. So I've been learning to use Lightroom. I had been only using Photoshop and GIMP. Man its so much faster to get the bulk of the edit done in Lightroom and do some final tweaks in Photoshop. Been watching a fair bit of Youtube photography content too (the likes of James Popsys, OpticalWander, Northborders, Nigel Danson, Pat Kay etc).
Anyway, seems like the photography landscape (hohoho) has changed fairly drastically since I last paid attention to it. Flickr seems fairly dead, as is the old photography section on an Irish forum site I used to use, 500px seems ok still though.
Apparently, Instagram is dying now for photography.
But I said Id try a brand new Instagram account anyway as I know very little about it ( P Horgan (@horganphoto) • Instagram photos and videos and just see what happens. Very little it seems lol. I think I get the hashtag thing now though.
Still seems to be an issue on getting critique though. I don't know where to go to get it basically. Im not putting any stock in likes count etc but for someone as self-critical as I am, its tough to try and evaluate if I'm improving or not, is the processing too much etc.
Anyway Im rambling. My main question really for you guys is where do you share photos? Know of any places to get some critique etc?
Reddit is fairly active but is also Reddit. The Youtubers that you like will more than likely have Facebook pages or something where viewers will get together and critique photos.
Tye only particularly useful critique I ever got was when I was at college studying. From teachers and students. Maybe a local photography club if you can be bothered with that sort of thing.
Heh yeah I hear you about Reddit....hmmm might checkout the facebook thing. Im not bothered about what people think but I do want to get better and I find it really difficult to evaluate my own stuff. Im in the middle of getting the hang of Lightroom so I know my post processing will get more subtle once that stage passes. But I might check out if any local clubs alright.
