SketchUp is an absolutely wonderful thing for beginners. I’d really rec this as a starting point.

First thing out of Unreal Engine.
Pretty happy with it overall. Next up is to increase the project scope a bit in terms of subject matter, maybe add in more effects or perhaps people.

Yeah I get some of those scenes. It’s pretty amazing tech.
I think they are nearly there with the face tech too. I wasn’t that impressed with the face stuff in the Matrix video but I wonder if that is down to the skill of the modeller. This video has a deep dive into the Matrix demo but at about 6:40 in there is some seriously impressive face animation.

It’s been over a year but this Metahuman stuff just keeps getting better. This has got to be a massive cost and time saving for devs. They capture and process facial animation in a few minutes, taken from a phone.

Blender 4.0 will be released today, which is amazingly serendipitous as I was just about to leap headfirst into learning it properly. Only realised 4.0 was a thing when I saw videos about it show up on YT -
Think I'm going to get the Hard Ops/Boxcutter addons as those seem totally ideal for the kind of geometry I'm wanting to make.
