Not sure about online, but in store if a big store fail to honour a sale, they have to remove the item from sale for around 8 weeks or something (information is many years old from a former partner who worked at Woolies). They have to honour it. I know this because I got a dirty deal on my Xbox one from Tesco - they forgot to take down their black Friday signs after the sale lol. Saved me about £100. -

Yeah, stores don't have to honour anything if they don't want to. I think price isn't technically agreed until checkout anyway. -
Now or then? It always seemed contradictory to that statement about shops are only offering it for sale, they don't have to sell anyone anything, blah blah. However by being a retail establishment it's also been argued that their advert alone forms the consideration and capacity part of the contract

An advert such as a web banner or in-store poster could come under false advertisement at a push.
Shelf pricing isn't advertising so would be different.
The law definitely used to be that something had to be taken off sale and was designed to prevent customer being duped. I think people trying to use it to take advantage of genuine mistakes has changed that.
Retailers, even big cunty ones, should be allowed a degree of error. End of the day it was a person who made that error, someone probably not being paid an awful lot.
When something is a genuine mistake you will be lucky to get anywhere with it. In store they may honour yourself as it will be a small loss but by the time something hits hotukdeals and the online stock has been rinsed you probably won't. Your only real chance online is if it goes through to dispatch before the error is caught. -

@AJ if I come across a sub £200 wiiU I will let you know. I'm suprised that nintendo haven't slashed the prices of the console (to get rid of surplus stock) what with the switch arriving in a few months.

Genuinely don't think there is much stock. They have also stopped manufacture so it is down to retailers now, Nintendo can't control price.
