Not sartorial at all, but for those interested Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary t-shirts went on sale today at Uniqlo.
In other news, I bought a new suit today. Three button, single breasted as it happens. I also bought a couple of shirts for work and a dictionary. Living in the fast lane. -
I have no suits at all. I have one tie, which has a picture of a frog on it and has never been worn as I have no shirts either. Oh, wait, I have one shirt but it doesn't fit me any more. -

Just picked up some new shoes, socks, shoe trees and an overnight bag from Oliver Sweeney on friday. Next month im picking up a pair of lush jeffery west shoes. My wife isnt entirely happy that i spent 500 quid on two pairs of shoes though.

I bought Chinos the other week, never bought worn or thought about chinos prior to the event. They are actually pretty good, chinos will be bought again.

I don't really know much about suits, but out here you can get them tailor made for ~£50 so I'm definitely going to pick a few up before I leave. Is there a good resource for learning about the different cuts and styles? I've tried Wikipedia, but there are very few images so it's not all that useful. -
Try GQ magazine maybe. The cut, style, colour of suit you should go for depends massively on your build.
I'm a big chap (hello sailor) with broad shoulders so I avoid double breasted suits because they make me look like the chap on the oxo tins and black suits because they make me look like a bouncer.
The best suit I had (before I tore it working for John Lewis) was brown with a lighter brown pin stripe, wore it with a brown silk tie and green shirt, looked da tits.
Also blue always screams 'used car car salesman'. -
I don't even know what double breasted (in relation to suits) means. I have no occasion to be formal at all. The one shirt I have was for a wedding and that's about it.

Double breasted generally means it has two vertical rows of buttons and fabric that doubles up over the bely area. It is normally more of a formal party wear type look.Â
The type of jacket worn with a kilt and the full scottish crap n stuff would be double breasted as would a tuxedo with the cummerbund (posho silk belly belt).
If you are a larger gentleman a double breast suit would do the same thing as wearing horizontal stripes (make you look even fatter). -

Other than peacoats I'm generally of the opinion that double-breasted can get to the very fuck, on men of any build.

Got a suit tailored to me in Vietnam. Just a little over cost-price for the material. It was fun choosing everything: style, fit, buttons, pockets... Took a couple of fittings to get it right, and I think it looks great, takes half a stone off me.
I went for one single cuff button, working. Stands out but I've always disliked ornamental buttons.
The only other thing I can share is that men tend to wear clothes a size (at least) too large, which makes them look baggy, older and fatter. Get rid of the straight cut jeans and get into slim (NOT skinny) cut. Weird at first but it looks much better.
