Welcome to the 2017/2018 premier league psychic savant detector thread.
Rules.
Post your predictions before the deadline posted with each fixture list. Any late predictions will obviously only count for games that haven't kicked off.
No blanket predictions
Scoring
Correct result = 1 pt
Correct score = 1 pt
Bonus points (only received if the correct result is predicted):
Correct home team score = 0.5 pt
Correct away team score = 0.5 pt
Correct margin of victory = 0.5 (not valid for a draw)
All scores accumulate.
Example:
Result
Home team 3 - 1 Away team
Player 1 prediction
Home team 3 - 1 away team = 3.5 points (1pt for correct result, 1pt for correct score, 0.5 for correct home score, 0.5 for correct away score and 0.5 for correct margin of victory)
Player 2 prediction
Home team 3 - 2 away team = 1.5 points (1pt for correct result, 0.5 for correct home score)
Player 3
Home team 1 - 0 away team = 1 point (1pt for correct result)
Player 4
Home team 2 - 0 away team = 1.5 points (1pt for correct result, 0.5 for correct margin of victory)
Player 5
Home team 3 - 3 away team = 0 points (result not predicted correctly)
Hopefully this will help keep it interesting at the top of the table and will give people more opportunity to score points.
Essentially though, don't worry about it though, because all you have to do is do your best to predict the right result, the rules are the same for everyone. I will take care of the scoring. -

It has varied from year to year, but getting a perfect score is fucking hard. So there should be a point for correct result, and a significant bonus (as in x3-x5) for getting the result dead on.
However, that's just how I did it - you're in charge now, so make this your own. I don't think krs cared too much about result vs score, but I could be wrong.

0.5 bonus point for getting the margin of victory correct (note margin of victory, so you don't get it on a draw). -
This means 0.5 for a draw not correct score right? Otherwise it tilts the game in favour of block one goal home side / favourite side victory predictos. Use your head idiots

And it's only if you don't get the exact score right.
So in a game that finished 2-0
A 2-0 prediction would get 3 points
A 1-0 prediction would get 1 point
A 3-1 prediction would get 1.5 points -

Crazy. 1-0 is a closer prediction than 3-1. -
But it doesn't reflect the same margin of victory.
Change it to 5-4 result, is 4-3 a better prediction than 5-0 or 1-0? -
Would applying a bonus 0.5 for getting the score correct for each team be better?

So a 2-1 prediction for a 2-0 result would net you 1 point for the correct result and 0.5 for the correct home score, giving you 1.5 total?

Perhaps. But a 3-1 guess over a 1-0 more accurately guesses the superiority of the winning team. Whatever the system, there will be flaws. I actually really like this one.
