Did an amazing run and got a whacking 112 couldn’t even get past the first boss. Had noxious fumes but no other complimentary cards. A complete mess of a deck. Interesting relic allows you to dig for relics at rest sites. But couldn’t use it as I was on the back foot with shit HP.
Welp, I died on the Act 3 boss. Had a sort of nice-ish vampire poison thing going on but never got the energy to get it moving. Picked kite quite late in for the extra energy but it did nothing, because 4 energy to spend on a 3 card hand accomplishes nothing. Fucksake.
Died on timekeeper earlier than I should have though as I completely fucked when I was tracking how many cards I could play until the turn ended.
Score was 548.

So what would be the best way to deal with the first boss in this seed?
Spoiler:
I just couldn't keep up with blocking all the burns he kept putting in my deck, and his own attacks were getting bigger too. Is it better to try and get attacks in, or block?
I did get my first win against him in a different seed / with a different character, but I didn't have anything in this run to get to him.
If it's the hexagon dude he only does the really big attacks every 6 turns, but yeah, you can run into problems if you have a very slow or defensive deck as his burns will add up over time, especially as it's the first floor and your deck is small enough as it is.
I like to make sure i stack my defence on the turns when he goes big, which is the first turn (or is he powering up then?) and then the 6th-ish whenever his last flame turns green. In between I go for a mix of attack and a bit of defence. I always feel like I'm trying to race him down, and because he's the boss, taking damage is okay as you get all your health back on the next floor.

I had Noxious Fumes, Cloak and Dagger, Footwork, After Image and Escape Plan.
Fumes, Footwork and Cloak and Dagger some of the best Silent cards in the game, they all offer insane value for cost, and After Image procs of Cloak and Dagger twice. Escape Plan synergises with Cloak and Dagger and the Letter Opener, and because of that it means it makes After Image better. The best way of winning against him is either some source of Thorns. I took 15 damage, because the block you have as Silent with those card is mad.
Could it be that I just don't have some of those cards unlocked yet? I'm sure I've never seen Fumes and Footwork. I'll keep an eye out for them whenever they pop up. Might have been bad luck otherwise.
Will the next run be with the Defect? I only unlocked that yesterday, so if I need to do unlocks for him I might try and get a couple runs in.
@Rouj, yeah I noticed taking damage on a boss is usually fine. Didn't notice his attack pattern was that strict, will try to work with that if I encounter him again. I'm guessing it's hexagon, I still don't know any names but it was doing a lot of burn and I just couldn't keep up. Think it was doing 40+ attacks with 2+ burn cards in my hand the last turn. More than I could take.
After about 5 hours it's definitely a lot more interesting than I thought, but I just don't have a very strategical mind and have a hard time building good decks and knowing what cards I've already played (I know you can look that up easily). Will need to catch some streams and have a look at the videos on the other thread.
I feel like I want to run this again without the wasted time but know I will probably fuck up and die anyway. Would be interesting to see what score I’d get with 20 minutes off the clock.
