So here we go. Rather than out all my food shit in the eating thread and annoy people, I'm gonna post it here so if you don't want to engage you don't have to open the thread. Gonna post the tentative itinerary for the trip in a few days but yeah, am getting fucking hype for a sensory overload.

I'd like to get back to Japan. It was the last stop on my travels so many years ago and I was ill for the first couple of days, so I missed out on some stuff and have actually forgotten quite a bit of it, now. The bits I do remember were very cool. And coming straight from Hong Kong, it was remarkable how different the societies were.

Otsuka. Decent beer in bars nearby as well, and taproom too. Chatty locals.
Ignore the reviews. It's full of angry Tokyo work lunch stuff, which I guess is their main trade.
Jellied fish... Oyster with olive oil, and other oyster stuff was top notch. Beer was super. Probably the best spot in Tokyo outside super spenny beef thingies. The owner /chef is super cool as well. Basic engrish.
I really wanna go back.

Recommendations
1) Go to Nara it's about an hour from Osaka on a standard train, loads of deer that nibble your arse.
2) Buy an egg sandwich from a convenience store they are fucking awesome and less than a pound.
3) Mount Takao, an hour on the train from tokyo. There's a bar at the top and a cracking shrine. Tis a lovely place
4) Bars: Rock Rock bar Osaka (they were playing the manics when we opened the door), 70's Rock and Blues bar in Ueno, Tokyo is a nice friendly place with reasonably priced drinks.
5) Asian giant hornets are the worst fucking things imaginable, avoid at all costs.
6) there's a cracking video games store in Akiharbara (not super potatoe) that has Zelda music playing outside, I got 2 Saturn pads for about £15.
7) Arashiyama is probs the best area of Kyoto. Old town, little markets etc. -

A few people I've met have been and said it's awesome. Even good going to the Sumo training centre and watching them train when there's no matches going on.

Yes, I have been to Disneysea twice previously - the Disney park you can drink in is a pretty good incentive. We go as much for the food and drink as anything else. And indeed, I did win the raffle to see Big Band Beat. And my wife fell asleep during it.
