The Autumn Games Glut 2019 - A vintage year or one to forget? - The Bear and Badger

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of smaller games I've had an eye on for a while are suddenly getting dumped out together in the next couple of months. alongside the usual huge franchise bastards and some other big names.

Whether it'll turn out to be a good end of year, rather than merely a busy one, I've no idea, but there's got to be some gems in there. I'm listing them anyway for work purposes - trying to figure out what I may be able to review - so I'll put that below. Some major releases, some very minor. Most of all, it's a huge contrast with some months earlier in the year when I couldn't find a single release I wanted to cover. Some of these indies look destined to get swallowed up in the chaos.

But how's it shaping up for you? What you getting? What's going to stand out and what's going to get passed over?

Astral Chain (30 August) - didn’t notice this until the last trailer. Looks great.

Zelda: Link’s Awakening (20 September) - looking forward to this more than any other game this year.

The Outer Wilds (25 October) - looking forward to this, even if it’s a hot mess.

Death Stranding (8 November) - I’ll never finish this.

There’s only one game on that list I’m getting new, and that’s Zelda. There are a few others not on that list I’ll be getting though.

I'll check a couple of those I don't know out.

Definitely have eye on morta and the surge 2. (surge 1 definitely does enough to bode well for a refined version.)

I'm sure there's some other stuff coming too in the smaller indy side.

Plus slay the spire 4th character.

I tend to ignore anything with much of an MP component though. So that would explain it.

No date yet, and for my money it’s highly unlikely to make 2019. It’s a small team working on a fairly ambitious game. I think they announced this way too early.
