Oh god I've started a game on https://vdiplomacy.com/ with (anon) colleagues, and I now hate and distrust them all. And we've not even made a move yet. Arrrgghghgh.
A forum game would be fund to spectate. I don't want in, cos I can barely cope with one game, let alone countenance the idea of a second in parallel. And the risk of metagaming would be high. But some of you should do it, mayber...

First move has happened (they're four days apart, irl names anonymised). It's gone implausibly well so far, but betrayal beckons at every turn. Trying to project a nice guy image can only last me so long...

Ooh cool, that's five, I'll update the title to try to entice in two more, then it's GAME ON!
Frequency of moves friends what people have. The first game was every 4d which felt pretty slow, this one every 2d which feels quite fast when you're busy IRL! Three actual turns are really simple cos you have so few pieces / not many options to start, it's all about using that time to feel out what other people are planning / trying to collude & get them to do useful things etc.
At 4d it lasted like three months lol. Was working in the office when it started! But obviously you're only putting in like if guess a handful of hours thinking properly admit it over that period.
Will post more if we do magically achieve quorum, which would be ace!
The other oddity perhaps is it's best done anonymously. So the online systems have their own chat and you know it comes from France or whatever, but not who is playing France. Fun finding out after the game who fucked you etc. There are public links to just see the map tho so we can readily share that it for any onlookers etc, though hard to comment/chat too much until the game is sewn up... -
I'm sure @Nexx would play. After many years of my guidance, he's starting to crack the idea of strategy games.

It was a three-way tie in the game I played, in fact. So just four salty tears (including my own...).

If we got nexx and pea in we'd be good to go! Would be a shame to get so close and not hit seven... there are variants with fewer people but there real deal is what we want!

Could start in the next few days if we get to serve, but it's totally asynchronous and a few days between moves so there's never a rush (though it's all really about the chat between turns!). Easy to pause if people are on holiday etc and we need a longer break between turns at any stage...

Ah, I see what kinda thing this is ... I'd get destroyed in no time. I'm far too much of a peace loving hippy to be in charge of whole empires. But still... I'm fascinated.

Ideally we'd have a separate gamesmaster to handle people needing extensions for holidays etc. But (unless eg pea is keen for that) I'm happy to try handing & try to avoid getting tainted of that ends up revealing who sine countries are.
More deets this evening and we should firm up how many days per round etc... Fun times beckon!!
