Sorry this isn't an announcement thread for Skate 4 but considering this year sees the release of multiple skateboarding games, some new (Session and Skate XL) and some old (Tony Hawk Remastered) I feel it's time for us to put on our knee pads and get back out there.

Tony Hawk Remastered looks sweet. I hope my thumbs are still fast enough

Nah I'm good, I'm riding a wave of extreme happiness after that reveal yesterday. I think the news from the devs about "feel" and using the old code base as a starting point was even better news than the actual return, as we've been here before at least twice with those bastards Robomodo *spits*

Cannot wait. If Skate comes that'd be hilarious but also I'd feel bad for those indie efforts up there. Was looking forward to XL and Session, but more out of starvation than anything.

Since this could be a general skate thread, I fancy doing a deeper dive on the titles that effectively walked so Tony could run. THPS wasn't the first, but it was the first that nailed the landing.

And also those that came as a result of the boom. For every Freestyle Scooter, there was a Dave Mirra. They were brilliant, those games.

Used to enjoy a bit of Thrasher, which became the weapon of choice for my actual sk8er m8s. Never really understood why they played it quite so much, but it was decent.

Shoutout to RATM - Guerilla Radio from the same game. It blasting as the intro vid played used to get me so crunk.

Level:
Opening level of Dave Mirra 2. The full Woodward lot. That place was mystical to me and my pals. We'd buy issues of Ride and Dig BMX and see all the stuff coming out of it. We'd see the Road Fools VHS' and catch glimpses of something they were building, something huge. Then not long after it opened there it was in the game, as the opening level! Massive great big wonderland. I'd spend hours in freeplay just finding lines.

Shoutout to THPS2 Marseille and the outer edge line. THPS2 school also goat-tier.

I’d like to join in, but don’t have the knowledge. These kinda games weren’t a big thing for me. I rinsed the THPS demo back in the day, but never sprung for the full game. So all I did was play the warehouse a lot.

In fact, was that THPS one or two? I don’t remember. The one with the warehouse training level anyway.

The soundtracks I can have opinions on, but my opinion is mostly ‘that band sold out by then’ because I was an insufferable skatepunk snob back in those days.

THPS introduced me to Primus and Dead Kennedys, so top marks there.

Favourite stage is still the demo level from THPS (warehouse I think it was called, with the girder up top), more because it blew my mind with the trick multipliers than because it's the best level. Burnside was fun too.
