So who's in? Y'all in? Playa!
So we pick a film, give it a week (or two) for everyone to watch, give opinions and other such and we discuss it and it'll be wonderful. Someone suggest films, I'll pick one and update OP.
RULES:
-An imdb score of 6 or up, unless film holds some reasoning as to why its quality/ Renowned so bad they're good efforts will be allowed.
-Films at least half of us haven't seen.
-Preferably two hours or under.
-Nothing too out there (as in extreme horror, basically. More a rule to keep me under thumb).
-Period for each film will be two weeks before we move on to the next one.
WEEK(s) ONE - July 24th - 7th August:
Citizen Ruth as recommended by Little Franklin
WEEK(s) TWO- August 7th - 21st August:
Streets of Fire as recommended by adored.
Week(s) THREE:
Survive Style 5+ as recommended by DS.
Five bizarre stories, with no apparently connections, get intertwined resulting in a surreal situation. -

I'd like to suggest:
Citizen Ruth
1996
106 min
A personal favourite of mine. Directed by Alexander Payne, known for Sideways, Election, and Nebraska. His first film, one which it seems not many people have heard of. Starring Laura Dern as a junkie trying to get an abortion. It's bloody funny. Dark of course, but not as dark as it sounds. Reminds me of South Park with it's way of not taking anything seriously and ridiculing everyone equally. -
In keep with it so far, nominate one film each and I'll add them all to the schedule (as long as they're not bound to put a few off).

We having rules or guidelines? Like;
-Must have at least 7 on IMDB, unless it's classified as 'so bad it's good'
-Stick to classics
-Films at least half of us haven't seen
-Try to keep them short
-NO BERGMAN!

Send messageI don't think there needs to be a 'stick to classics' rule. I'm sure there are plenty of worthy modern films that not everyone has seen. -

I'll happily grab the smaller rips (700mb -1gig avis/mkvs) and up them to a dedicated thread dropbox.

Also, final question (promise), a week or two weeks per film? I know I have the time for it to be a week, but some of y'all with kids/work etc may need longer. S'up to you guys.

There are some truly great films with 6.2 on imdb. Rotten Tomatoes gets it right more of the time.
I'm up for Citizen Ruth. Enjoyed his other three. Watched Nebraska about a month ago and ended up watching most of Election when I was channel hopping a few weeks back. That's always a good sign when a film you've already seen and had no intention of rewatching pulls you in from 1/4 way thru."..the pseudo-Left new style.." -

I have a copy of Citizen Ruth I torrented ages ago I can stick on the dropbox.
I reckon one film per fortnight is probably best.

It's very approachable. Quite unlike anything else he made that I have seen. there's a TV mini-series cut that is considerably longer available on the criterion label.
I liked Tarkovsky's version of Solaris. Haven't seen anything else by him though.Holding the wrong end of the stick since 2009. -

I own Survive Style 5+, but haven't seen it, so that would be handy. Another vote for a fortnightly film change, it wouldn't take long for me to start missing selections if this were a weekly thing (hypocritical, 'cos of my initial insistence that the retro game club changed every seven days, but I came round eventually).
