Goddamit, I'm on hold with vodaphone trying to work out why my phone drops out of wifi randomly then will not find any networks. As you'll not from the fact you can read this, my pc is still connected and everything else is running fine. HTC desire HD is the phone and there just seems to be no option to adjust anything, or make it search for networks, scan does nothing, and everything else is working well.

I've got the non-HD Desire (although I've just remembered that it is now two years since I got it, so my contract is up for renewal, woo).  I've had very occasional similar problems with mine - it seems to disable all data connections for no reason.  Last time it happened was when I was using the Satnav to try to locate the apartment my parents were staying in in Edinburgh.  That was quite annoying.  I had to go into the settings and turn it on again.

Mine's also refusing to install updates or let me download new apps - it reports that it is "unable to write to SD card or phone memory", despite the SD card having pure hunners of space spare.  Basically, I think it's a bit fucked, right on schedule.

Yeah, mine's fucked. Off for repair. My sd card just totally died. the volume up button on the isde went and wifi was totally bonkers. Dude in the store was very helpful and patient, which was good. Back on my old phone. Glad I kept it and the charger.

Yeah, I was on a cheap contract as well. You'll be doing well to get an upper middle to top of the range phone for that again, but I dunno, depends what they offer you.

Galaxy S2 is reasonable; will only get cheaper too. Looks to hit the sweet spot for value (thinking of getting one for the wife, but she wants an iPhone, cos her friend has one ooh peer pressure).
