I scoured the 9 games pages and couldn't find a thread, so, I thought I'd make one.
X360 magazine preview
I know a lot of us aren't too keen on this because of the overly emo styling of the nu-Dante, but, after watching the E3 trailer I actually thought it looked really good.
As the preview alludes, people would moan just as much if it was more of the same, as they would if it was a restyling, so creating a new Devil Mary Cry game was always going to garner negative criticism. In reality though, this looks really good

Saw some of the gameplay vids a few months ago and I was surprised how decent it looked. I'll definitely give it a rent.

Plus Enslaved was also very good.

I couldn't give a fuck what coat he wears, but what is Devil May Cry without Dante?

Enslaved I guess.

Also, CAPCOM have a nasty habit of fucking up every franchise/game I used to hold dear recently, so we'll have to see.

The attitude is the same. He just looks different.
They've sped up the fighting system compared to Enslaved and Heavenly Sword too.

Who gives a toss if he looks different? Â Someone around here, apparently, which I still get a giggle from. Looks decent, and Ninja Theory have form, so reckon it'll be ok.

Didn't like the original so didn't play any of the others. Probably won't play the new one either

Never really gelled with DMC, but big fan of Ninja Theory, Heavenly Sword was criminally underrated, and Enslaved was class.

So they have made Emo boy even more Emo, that will upset the Emos.

I'm looking forward to this, the demo from E3 was surprisingly good. I never much liked Dante anyway, so I'm not fussed by the different version.

It is the same guy really. Just a different look. No matter how much Capcom would deny it.

I find it weird how much people are complaing when in DMC 4 you spent most of the time playing as someone else.

Edit: When I say people, I mean the internet in general!

I've judged started 4 today, doesn't appear to have Dante in for a while.

Been meh about this all along, but I might give it a chance. Never really been bothered about the games by Ninja Theory, they look a bit naff (the demo for Enslaved certainly was).

To me it seems a bit baffling to say "You should buy this regardless of how you feel about the creative decisions the developers have made". It's a reboot - it's not being 'that guy', it's not buying a game based purely on the title.

Yes, but the original DMC was helped by having great character design. This new look is terrible. Doesn't affect gameplay obviously but it can affect experience.

Part of the reason why I don't like God of War is the shitness that is Kratos.

I'm not sure why character design is not seen as a valid cause of complaint. I like the old one. This is a drastic change. I don't like what they've come up with.

If people don't care, fair enough. I do care and don't want to support it.

No, that's entirely legit as reasons go. What's unclear to me here is the substantial difference between Dante the former and Dante the to-be-released.

It's thinking like this that led to the ridiculous Mass Effect petition.
I didn't like the character design in Bayonetta, but I loved the game, I don't like the design of Spec Ios the line, but I still want to play the game.

I don't like the look of this new Dante, butt the game looks like great fun and I'm willing to give a brit Dev a chance at a well known Jap franchise.
