The endings make sense now. The big plot holes with the Normandy crew have been filled. The relays don't actually explode now - they're just badly damaged and everyone gets out of the Sol system before they blow. The galaxy still goes on. The endings are clearly explained as being good (control), bad(destroy) and best (synthesis). And the voiceovers at the end leave little doubt that they are what they appear. Control isn't a reaper trick in this ending. Now I didn't pick up any indoctrination stuff originally so maybe some youtube fiends will find some evidence in there. 
But there's still the same problems with the ending. It's an isolated little mini game almost independent from the main one. Your actions throughout the games still count for nothing right at the time you're expecting them to all weave together - war assets, the choice at the end of the 2nd game, the people you've saved.  Its still introducing new themes at the last moment. 
Its still bad.
But I could have probably played it through first time and been reasonably satisfied with it. 
I am now done with this game. Can't see myself being interested in any future DLC. It's a story led game and the story is finished. 

Originally chose Control, chose Synthesis this time because I liked the idea that the previous civilizations might be able to live on properly through the synthesised Reapers. I liked that they sorted the big Normandy plothole. I liked the extra explanation with the Starchild - I think that would have made the endings better on their own just because you know what's supposed to happen after the Crucible fires. I liked the expanded bit lingering on the immediate aftermath of the Crucible firing. Thought that EDI going on about what a fucking paradise the galaxy was now was a bit much and not really necessary - I was happy to just have a vague idea about the future of the galaxy, didn't need it to be so explicit. But I thought it got back on track when it shifted to the Shepard funeral bit and thought that sequence linked with the last epilogue sequence quite well. The man rambling on about 'the Shepard' seemed a bit wanky in the original ending, but with the added emphasis on the legend of Shepard being remembered I thought it worked a lot better. The message at the end was more appropriate but I don't know why they still had to go on about "continuing to build [the] legend" and "look[ing] forward to sharing further adventures with you in the Mass Effect universe". Just leave the ending to sit, jeez. But yeah, I'd describe myself as satisfied with the ending where I wasn't before.
