Dragon's Dogma
  • You get an item in there you can craft into a skeleton key..which is what you need to get out!
  • Is it co-op over live?

I could google, but I'm here now and you're a font of knowledge. ;-)

The Shackel + what? Also, i completely forgot you could combine items in your 'Back' inventory screen, so it wouldn't have helped. lol! I've only tried a couple of bits of crafting whenever i drop stuff off at the inn.

Anyone come up with any decent combines? Need an ingredients and results list of some sort.
  • Cooper's - it's more indirect but strangely more personal than most co op. You create a main guy and a main minion - the latter can be hired by other players. It sounds a bit odd, but it works beautifully and adds mystery and intruige.

There's a complete list here, Curtisatron:

  • Thanks Nick. I was hoping for both! Co-op on Live is a good way to catch up with one of my mates.

Might just do the demo... the Edge review isn't selling it to me as much as this thread.
  • Join the pawn legion!

This Arisen/Pawn Legion aspect of the story, I'm really enjoying. They 'can't operate alone', and only call the Arisen their master. There's something really nice about the way they've justified the mechanics in the story. And I love that you only find out about the lore if you actively seek it. Leave that shit out, developers, and let me get interested off my own back.
  • For me the combat is the best bit about this game. I'm playing as a fighter, and when you score a lunge on a foe it's awesome. Also hitting them into the air. It's so satisfyingly visceral. Was fighting these white-furred wolves and their coats became spattered in blood.
  • Totally agree. Have you got the one where he slams the sword into the ground? Knockdown with lunge > ground stab. So, so satisfying.

The damage on the monsters is awesome. When a troll's taking fireballs from two mages, and I'm beasting with my flame buffed sword, you can see them start to turn ash coloured and decompose. Cant't think of another big RPG with that.
  • I'm dithering. Not liking the comparisons to DMC. Or JRPGs.

But I do like the sound of areas that are too dangerous until you level up a bit. Baldur's Gate and Morrowind were a bit like that.

I'm lazy and stuck for time these days, so I don't have much tolerance for learning complex combos. But everyone says the combat is good fun.

    Gah.
  • I would say AVOID if you haven't the time.
  • But...but...

    Aw...
  • Reverse psychology eh Tempeh? like it, like it

Edit: Not a combo in sight by the way, it's just about move order but not in some long unblockable string like DmC

Fuckin' hairy moment right there doing the escort mission to the Great Wall:

I had the gates of the fort in sight, so i attempted to blag a shortcut up the cliff face, only for my pawns and the unarmed NPC to get stuck on the diagonal. Enter 5 Hobgoblins and 3 Harpies! "AARGH!" Cue me jumping off the top of the cliff and landing right in the thick of battle. I managed to clear away some of the danger hoping the NPC would follow me up the path the long way round, but he refused to move. Meanwhile he was getting whacked by a Hobgoblin Chief (big fella). Luckily Yuria saw my health was dangerously low and cast a heal aura right near me, sorting us both out. "Fuck this!" I thought. Put my sword away, pressed RT and slung the NPC over my shoulder then legged it up the hill as fast as i could, all the time his legs kicking like a child's. lol! "Wah-wah! Shut it and get in that fucking gate!"

    Mission complete!   :D
  • haha excellent

Taking Nicki out for food tonight, so hoping that buys me DD time : )

Check out Yuria aka Wonder Woman! lol! Tell me there are golden headbands unlockable later?
  • I have a pretty good headband on my pic on the previous page, Curtis. Got it from that blonde peddler when I first got to the capital. Haven't seen her since, though. I want some more rare shit!

Are you on 360, Nick? Curtis are you on my friend's list hmm...

    Edit: I sent a friend request :)

That headband is perfect! Damn i need it.

*Edit* Nevermind. You can rest at camps. Just needed to speak to the right bloke.
  • I think the health system in this game is fantastic to be honest, not being able to get full hp again unless you rest or use some hardcore healing stuff. Really added to the tension when I was exploring the catacombs earlier :)
  • I don't have much tolerance for learning complex combos..

Me neither, but I thought this was just a button masher?

Nick's waxing has sold this for me though. The whole Jap developer thing trying to form a Western orientated RPG and almost pulling it off has me intrigued.

I fucking love the title screen music! It's straight out of an 80s action movie. This game is awesomesauce.  Who's pawn is Balderak? Keeps appearing in my rift area, but he's too high a level, I don't want to have a pawn that's better than me :p

Balderak is my Pawn and he's a drunken Scottish Dwarf. I'm about to change him to a mage and I'm changing my main into a fighter.
  • Hope I don't disappoint you guys, you definitely need some patience to get the most out of it. Ahh the title screen music just came up, time to play <3

Does everyone know that the size of your character affects how much you can carry, which has a knock on effect to your overall speed (i.e being constantly overburdened)?

Picking perfectly formed women is not helping me out in this game.  :(
  • I'm MM nickfullspec btw. Who got dat OP to make a pawn database?
  • Checkpoints are fucking murderous in this.

Not for those with a lack of spare time.
  • No quicksave function then?  In an open world game?

You can save anytime as long as you're not in combat. Only one savefile though, so be careful.
  • Hm, might trade Witcher 2 for this tomorrow.
  • Just battered three ogres in a row. Mental. If you let Balderak go and bring him back in your squad, you'll find he's changed from a fighter to a sorcerer.
  • Yuria has joined me on my quest...

    DAMMIT TEMPY.

Nick is selling it to me, as is ZMM's enthusiasm, but I'm struggling for time on pretty much everything these days. Keep telling myself it's just a phase!
