Remnant probably needs to be removed from the Souls conversation. Its a tight 3rd person shooter, and it should be compared to games of that ilk. Of which there are very few in this day & age of 2020. I know this because 3rd person shooters have always been my bag.
I'm yearning for a really decent third person shooter that isn't Gears. I wonder about Outriders but it'll probably be garbage. I'm gonna get back into Remnant this week...
I finished off Mortal Shell. Overall it's decent, and the hardening mechanic is clever, but it's generally a bit rough and inconsistent in its design. I doubt I'll play it again.
It was a bit annoying, but could totally be sussed and learned Dark Souls style.
Definitely a few BS inconsistent bits with what hit and what didn't in it though. Probably added an attempt or two.
The other thing that added a few attempts is that I haven't added any upgrades to armour since the start of the game, so I've been rocking base armour for 15 hours. lol.
Did you try Sundered, Face? I probably don't need to add it to the backlog but I keep looking at the Eldritch Edition in the Switch sale (£3.50ish). I reckon I'd like Blasphemous more though.
Hmm I might leave it for now. Silksong could sneak out before Christmas I guess. Plus I've barely started Dandara which was a similar 'can't refuse the price' purchase.
Dandara had a bit that annoyed the shit out of me, but was very good. I should finish.
Meanwhile, 6 goes to undo warframe controls and another few to learn patterns and latest boss in Remnant is down. Good fight, tbh, just unlocked the ability to speed up using consumables, gonna be hard to resist pumping every point into that shit.
Ranged build continues to be epic. If you go slow and steady solo with it most things can't fuck with you.
Even without the actual sniper rifle. The long rifle can one shot all but the biggest dungeon baddies.
And if I get lucky with crits, some of the worst are 2 shot.
Have bonuses flying into crit and weakspot damage through rings, character type and abilities, plus burn damage as my mod on the rifle with bonuses into status damage too.
Yeah normal ex cultist. I'm in the sewer and just getting mobbed. Every time. Made it to the boss once but it was over in seconds. I'm not getting anyone joining my session to help out online either. It's rough.
Ah, I know the layout won't be identical, but yeah, that's the bit that initially had me dying a bit.
Tbh, I'm glad I went ranged, because so far, it feels like if you let enemies get close enough to do cqc, you've already failed.
I did notice there that the game actually cycled through 3 different sorts of heavy enemies there. (the ones that cue music) I had to keep trying until I got one of the enemies I could deal with.
I will say that once I'd broadly sussed that area, I had the rhythm of the game down.
(for me, pop off enemies at distance, make sure I've already done the area behind me so I don't get flanked, and if I can't check constantly.) save weapon mods for music enemies and go slow.
Definitely so re looks. Reckon they dropped ball a little with pr on release. Because I never saw any other area but the first in any promo and I actually watched some streams. Can't recall if they even showed later levels in trailers.
Nailed a mid level boss first time last night. Felt good. Good progress on the latest end of level boss. Most things sussed. (and a few self inflicted deaths because this one has a pit around the area.)
I assume this got a mention in one of the threads for ps5 or something, but hello, new remnant "prequel" thing. Looks like more souls than shooter, but same world. Colour me interested.
I was hoping we were gonna jolly coop and i'd have some funky DLC gear but i've been distracted with other stuff. Maybe you can join me and we'll do my campaign? I don't think the scaling is too bad.
