Do Boardgames Dream of Miniature Porn?
  • I really would like a crack at Kroak but I have banned myself until I have painted more of what I have.
  • So system gateway fills like a no brainer to have on the radar after that susd review.

    What say the netrunner vets?

Yis, the HH team have updated the rules a bit and are releasing a new edition with a lot of new plastic kits replacing the old resin stuff from Forgeworld. It's not a re-invention or anything, but it's bringing the game into stores in plastic, which will open it up for folk. Not gonna be cheap though, cos it is Heresy. About 90% of people will be buying this box and using it as one army. GuZMLmFQvpyYNIxe.jpg

Preorders are now available. £144 at Element Games.

  • Cue 6 months time and Tiger is sat in a magic focused shop/shithole (probably in Wigan as there's about 800) that smells of teenage boy sweat mixed with Lynx Africa.

    It's a slippery slope lad

Help me.... kill me now... the DnD crossover has fucked me. Lynx was on sale though, so at least I can afford a few more packs. One more, anyway. Just one more will do it.

Netrunner was the greatest game I'll ever play.  I enjoyed playing so much and I got really sad when it got canned.

I'm looking for a local print shop to see how it plays now.
It's a goddamn snoozefest out there.

I pre-ordered The Thing when I heard it was this close to coming out so I'll have that soon hopefully.  If Lady Luck could swing it for before this Saturday for cheese/board night then that'd be awesome.

Frosthaven still remains well out of arms reach.  They reckon printing within the month and the dispatching Autumn.

I’ve also backed Frosthaven and ‘if’ it’s out for the autumn, it will be about 18 months late.

  • It really is delightful. Strong chance it'll be first game on the table in our new house.

  • For all you skirmish fans, have you played Godtear?

It's light and quick and tactical and the sculpts are excellent.

It has been a very long wait but I'm looking forward to it.

I took receipt of The Thing plus expansion today but the other half missed Love Island last night and it's a banger apparently so it looks like it's boardgames for one.

  • I getting the Horizon Zero Dawn Game and Ni No Kuni. I'm interested to see how they play.
I've heard The Thing is very very good @subbax

  • Since we moved and since I bought Sherlock Holmes for the missus (still unplayed) I have now picked up...

The search for planet x, treasure Island and Mandala.

We've managed one game of everdell since being here.

    Lol.

I've managed a solo game and as always, played a bunch of wrong rules.

Seems fun but haven't had folks round for a proper session yet.  Might see if I can get my cousin over, him and his missus are similar tabletop nerds.

  • Just had an email that my Star wars Villainous has been dispatched. I am stupidly excited about this. Disney Villainous has become a firm family favourite and whilst Marvel is nowhere near as good I still enjoy it immensely.

But this is Star Wars....super excited!

  • Managed a game of mandala with dad. Seems cool. But we only just sussed the rules really. Not much tactics.

Gonna have to watch a vid to teach Mrs face. She really hates rules explanations.

Grabbed yellow and Yangtze and raiders of the north Sea on steam. Tutes seem to miss massive bits of info, but I'll plug away. Cheaper than a punt on full game.

Yellow and Yangtze is great. I have the physical version which seems to go for ridiculous amounts second hand these days. I'll never sell it though.
  • Man, even on easy against AI I can see how solid yellow and Yangtze is.

Just really good premise and plenty of meat there. Crunchy decisions all round, as shux would say

Seems to blur the lines between the board and video game worlds, even going as far as letting you paint your virtual miniatures. Might tickle a few fancies in here
  • I like the look of it. Will certainly try it.

I played Mage Knight a couple of times over the weekend. It takes far too long (4-5 hours) but is still the absolute best game of its kind that I've played. So much variation from game to game.

Yeah I love it. I don’t get to play it that often and need to read the rules each time. But what a game. A friend has the Star Trek version and likes that one as well.

  • Yeah, the rules aren't that tricky but there are so many different parts that it's very intimidating. Combat is very much a maths problem.
  • Just started on the PC version of Gloomhaven. It's rather good but I'm very happy I don't need to keep track of everything due to the PC doing it for me...
