After a heavy few nights of gaming, I've had to have a night off to fit a new mixer tap in the kitchen. It's taken around 3 hours, but I think we're finally leak free, with a shiny new tap to boot.
Half way through, I thought I'd finished but the flexible hose was leaking when I put the water back on. I tried a few things and eventually settled on reusing a washer from the old hose. It seems to have worked - time will tell.
I work in an office and I've pretty much done this from the start of my career. I do love a project/challenge like this though and this sort of thing makes me feel quite practical and - for want of a better term - manly.
Here's a thread to celebrate the things you've done that made you feel practical/manly too, however big or small.

I'm having to lay a new bathroom floor tomorrow and patch a ceiling in the kitchen and downstairs WC. I'm not a DIY person and whilst I have invested in the required tools and materials I am almost certainly resigned to paying somebody who actually knows what to do to eventually come in and finish my bodge....
