Played it 'til my eyes bled. First experienced it on BBC-B which was its home platform. It was lightning fast that version but the 464 version was a very good port.
Holding the wrong end of the stick since 2009.
  • My friend had it on his BBC-B.  We took it in turns.   As it was his game he was much better at it than me so 95% of the time it was him playing.  Bastard.
  • My neighour had it on C64, but all I wanted to play at the time was Terminator 2.
  • @davyK - your list has been added.
Dino Crisis 2 was great. I would love to replay it.
I mentioned Dino Crisis the other day. Unfairly ignored.

Yeah, I saw that. Dino Crisis 1 was decent, but 2 was fantastic. I completed it in a single sitting, then started it straight again - loved every moment.
Must say I like your style @Childintime

Listing alphabetically is cool and I like the lenient rules, will make a list today I think.

Btw Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins? It would seem by first impressions of that game might be horribly wrong. What did you find so great about it?

Long story short, I loved how it subverted the old g'n'g expectations. The previous instalments were games that emphasised caution and constant awareness. Ultimate, though, made tweaks to enemy movement and placement that always forced forward momentum - it made you braver and more aggressive.

Added to that, there were a whole host of magic items that fundamentally changed the game type - the game could be a 2D-side scroller sure, or it could be a SHUMP.

The level design was some of the best in the series, encouraging exploration and being filled with secret passages and a magic items. There were tough maze-like areas with multiple levels, constantly scrolling reaction tests and always some new trick to show you.

Basically, Ultimate is to g'n'g what Bloodborne is to Dark Souls. Something very familiar and very different.
Cinty, your top 100 is all wrong you idiot.

    am i doing it right?

    :P

    Best post.

Pretty sure these were on my original list. Some of my first games, those.
  • I should add I meant the Dino Crisis series is unfairly ignored rather than my post the other day.

Yeah, I get that. It certainly got overlooked when there was some cool stuff in there. I never played the third one...looked so disappointing.

Would pay many monies for a decent LIVE Arcade Cannon Fodder collection. Man I love that game. Never before have I got so attached to a cluster of about 30 pixels.

I had a NTSC version of Dino Crisis on a chipped ps1 so for some reason it was in black and white. Had to give up at the coloured wire puzzle. What a shit game.

Needed an RGB SCART lead to get colour that way. Or could be the TV is PAL only.

Yar, this is when a scart cable was considered fancy pants.
  • Knowing me, I'll probably end up doing this list thing.

Yeah I never touched that one. Iirc they took the action stuff too far and forgot the survival stuff. Jet packs and low scores.
  • Do it!

  • I have based the list purely on what I remember enjoying over the years.
  • Robocod is a fine shout. That nearly ended up in mine too. Great game.

  • Dividing into consoles then getting into the mindset I was in at the time makes it easier to add games like Robocod.
When I think of Robocod I think of being 6 years old, playing it in my PJs, smelling of Matey bubble bath hoping I can progress that bit further before the shout of "bed time"
