Has a Zen 2 7nm 3rd gen Ryzen 8 core, same as what the Series X and PS5 have, just at a lower clockspeed. Like a downclocked 3700X, not bad at all for a handheld. Only a 60Hz screen is slightly disappointing tbh but no big deal.
They're doing the classic tactic of rinsing you for the decent storage options, NVME drives are never that expensive. I won't be getting one as I need to upgrade my PC first, but if I did have one it would probably be an amazing portable Noita machine.
Valve gave up on their other hardware projects, so fuck knows if this will last more than a few years before getting discontinued. Would be nice if it lasted though.

It’s likely to be Linux according to the article. Valve’s got three quarters of the Steam library compatible with Linux already. I personally think there’s zero chance it’ll be running Android. -

This will have even more indies and they’ll all be significantly cheaper on this thing.
As for production costs, perhaps Valve is willing to forego making a profit on the hardware. -
I would definitely buy one as I already have the library. But it'll probably be so weirdly configured it'd never get used.

Truth be told, I’d rather a more powerful, non-portable version that I could stick under my TV, but this would at least be a way to access Steam stuff without needing a PC, and hopefully with less faff.

Yeah those out-of-the-blue OS pop ups are the real bitch for PC gaming. I’m sure there’s ways to eliminate them if you were just going for the sofa experience and not using it for anything else.

It’s still touch controls, it’s just touch controls on a second screen. You’d be better off with a Kishi or Backbone on your phone.

I'm with you except seeing my daughter effortless use touch screen to bound about in Minecraft and roblox, I kinda think this might be more easy for kids that are so ingrained with touch already. Personally controller all the way but I reckon touch screen is fine, I'm the problem.
